So what's going on at Arkum?

Stand off

Chapter 85 by frogogre1

Dr. Young felt the floor fall out beneath her as the one person who gave her purpose was suddenly gone. There was no warning, no hint that her master was in danger. He was simply there one moment and gone the next. There was sudden suffocating silence weighing her down as her thoughts turned over a thousand possibilities that could have led to this moment.

In the end as she stood there trying to figure out where it went wrong and what she could have done better, it became too much to bear. "Dammit! Damnit! Dammit!" Dr. Young roared as he went to town on her own personal desk. Splinters flew freely as she reduced her desk to a fine mulch under her feet. She stood there, her chest heaving as she tried to get the breath back she lost with her sudden rampage.

She stood there, on the shattered remains of her desk, and came to a realization on what needed to be done. So without another word to herself or prayer to improve the odds that what she was about to do would work, she left her office and ran off as fast as her high heels would allow, trying to get somewhere she needed to go if she was going to have any hope of doing right by her master.

Mrs. Zaheerin stood in her little hideaway in part of Arkham Asylum, gathering more ketchup from the patients in case the Condiment Wizard needed another shipment of the Condiment. That's when it hit her and her patients; she and they let out a screech of pain and rage at the one they held so dear being tested away from them and thrown at death's feet.

Mrs. Zaheerin sat there a moment at her chair, thinking on how to fix this as the rest of the patients she had gathered muttered theories and screamed threats at each other. It was utter chaos for a while as several fights and shouting matches broke out among those that she had brought to extract magic ketchup out of. As she sat there in silence, her mind going over and over again anything she would have done that would have changed Master being dead.

There was only one that came to mind, and so she got up from the chair. She then shouted out. "No fighting the master needs us all for his plans." Mrs. Zaheerin screamed out, causing the others to instantly stop, as none of them wanted to fail Master in the wake of his sudden death. So it was that Mrs. Zaheerin made her way to do what needed to be done.

Nora Freeze had felt cold before she'd been frozen in ice for several decades. She knows the feeling of cold so harsh that every living thing in Gotham would shatter like glass if it got that cold. She thought she knew cold, as she had lived with cold and been cold to the very bone. In one moment all that certainty was gone.

As she felt the coldness of death as she lost the greatest man of her life. For a moment she did nothing, merely standing there as that deep chill wracked her body with its intensity, then it was gone, and she still stood silently. This lasted for a little bit till out of nowhere she grabbed her freeze and fired barrage after barrage at a random wall. She froze the wall solid and kept going till it got so bad that it shattered like glass.

There was no emotion on her face as she stared into the wall she had created, but looking in Nora's eyes, you would see the deep sadness and rage that were there. She then, without a word, left the room through the sudden hole she had made in the wall. Shr was on her way to where she needed to go.

There in the center of Arkham Asylum was Cheryl; she stood there knowing that her master was gone, but if his ambitions were to survive, there was a thing that needed to be done. So she waited at an intersection for them to come, and they did. Nora, Dr. Young, and Mrs. Zaheerin all had made their way to the intersection, though they were trying to meet the others at their base; none of the three had intended to meet there as they were trying to get to the others' base.

"We need to work together if we ever want Condiment Wizards' ambitions to come true." Cheryl said, stating clearly what needed to be done. All four powerful and cruel women stood there staring daggers at each other in this bizarre standoff. The rage was clear on their faces; they did not want to work with each other. Though in the end they knew they had to if they didn't want to fail Condiment Wizard again.

"For Condiment Wizard!" they all shouted at each other before going back into silence once more. None spoke on what their master would have wanted, as they all knew that they had their own ideas on what Condiment Wizard wanted to do and how he would get it done. Eventually Cheryl spoke, breaking the angry silence between the four.

"We will take over Arkham Asylum fully. There will be no those with us or against us anymore when it comes to Arkums staff. It will be they are either with us or they are dead." Cheryl said, simply condemning numerous innocent guards to die. The other agreed and moved out to purify Arkham Asylum of those not loyal to the Condiment Wizard from beyond the grave.
