Shika’s Room

My eyes slowly open to a white room. A bed dressed the corner, red sheets covering it. As consciousness floods back to my mind I snap awake. Holly, our medic is patching my wounds. Shika Kara or Gemstone as most know her is standing in the corner of her room.

“You know one of these days your gonna learn not to stand in the way of sharp objects.” Shika says jokingly.

“Not all of us can have diamond skin that can shatter almost anything.” I respond grabbing my wound in pain as I stand up.

“ No no no.” Holly chimes in as she grabs my shoulder. “Your in no way ready to get back out there.”

“Relax I’m just going to the bar for some pain killers. I know my limits. I’ll see Sharin before going after this son of a bitch.”

“Don’t you dare leave the station you got me any sort of strain could be fatal. Just let the other heroes do the work while you get better.”

Shika looks at me. “Just in case you decide not to follow doctors orders I’m gonna come with you, also after what just happened, I could use a drink.”

I start to walk towards the door and stumble grabbing on to Shika to prevent from falling. I look up at her and for a brief moment I see genuine fear in her eyes. She helps me too my feet.

“You can’t be drunk already.” She says smiling at me.

“Nope I’m not feeling good enough to be drunk yet.”

“Well let’s fix that.”

I put one arm around her as she helps me out of her room and to the lobby.

I remove my arm from around her as we open the doors. I take a few steps inside feeling my stomach burn. “Maybe the **** will sterilize the wound.” I half jokingly think to myself. I look around to see two people sitting at the bar.
