Chance and Sandstorm

Chance is sitting at the bar next to sandstorm showing him something on his phone. We get close enough to overhear part of the conversation as we sit down next to them.

“... and that’s how I think everyone’s lives will be in 40 years or so.” Chance says pocketing his phone.

Sandstorm shrugs and says “I still think Skull and Calico aren’t ever gonna have kids.”

“Hey guys.” Shika chimes in. “Make some room.”

The guys scoot over a couple of bar stools and continue their conversation.

“Sharin, whiskey.” I say watching as a robotic bartender sets a glass of whiskey down in front of me. “And leave the bottle... we’re gonna need it.” Sharin sets the bottle of whiskey down in front of us and I pour Shika Kara a glass. “To a long life.” I say holding my glass in the air.

“And to catching the son of a bitch who stabbed you.” She says tapping her glass against mine. I down the whiskey and slowly my mind becomes numb and my stomach starts to stop hurting. Seven, eight, nine glasses later I forget the pain entirely. I’m not sure how much Gemstone has drunk but I haven’t seen her refill her glass once. Maybe there was something in the booze, but I look in Gemstones eyes and am hypnotized by the beauty the light reflecting off her iris’ like diamonds in a ring. My gaze trails down to her lips, two rubies set in perfect marble sculpted by the gods of beauty themself. Everything about her is perfect; her smile, her curves, the way she portrays the out of place alien but yet is so confident in herself. I stare just a little too long before she notices.

“I think it’s about time to get you back to Dr. Holly, your so drunk your eyes have stopped working properly.”

“Hey it’s not my Fault your distracting.” I say through a drunken slur.

“Well now I know your drunk.”

Shika starts to help me up and before I can fight it she is laying me onto her bed where Doctor Holly uses her powers to heal the wound some more.

“One of us will have to stay overnight with her” Doctor Holly says to Shika.

“I guess let her decide.” Shika responds.
