Shika

“Doctor I’d like 4ccs of beautiful alien goddess prescribed please.” The words slip off my lips as if I have no control over my mouth. Gemstone blushes and motions for Holly to leave.

“I can take care of her till she’s sober Holly, I’ll call if anything goes wrong.”

Holly hangs her lab coat on the door and leaves. Shika dims the lights and sits in her chair facing the bed. I look around her room at all the decorations; Star Wars movie poster, record player and records, a cliche hang in there cat pictures, but it’s very lacking in anything alien. “So what’s your home like Shika.”

She looks up to me. “It’s wonderful living in a big palace. I used to go with my dad out onto the balcony and look up to see the moon setting as day begins. We had a garden that you could just listen too for hours on end while it was raining each drop of rain would be a different note on a petal of the glass flowers. It would make the most beautiful music and no two songs were ever the same.”

I Lay there and listen, imagining what it must be like to be a stranger from another world. I have to give her credit she looks fragile and pure on the outside but she is one of the strongest people I know. My eyelids grow heavy listening to her soothing voice. I fight to stay awake, but it’s a loosing battle. I drift off into sleep.
