Sherry

“Half court!” Sherry yelled out. Everyone turned to her.

“Come on sir!” Another one of the seniors girls yelled. Within seconds everyone was cheering for you to attempt. You sighed.

It was fun to see them all excited for you.

You caught a ball passed to your and jogged to the half way line. You looked up and saw Sydney approaching the group looking confused, her eyes met yours and widened. You visibly saw her stiffen. Something felt wrong. She joined Sherry and you suddenly felt nervous. You knew what was happening now.

It was hot out and the heat was starting to make you sweat. You turned to Sydney and smiled at her. She didn't return the smile, but looked away and stood next to Sherry.

You looked back at the hoop, bouncing the ball a few times.

You took a few deep breaths and focused on the hoop. You had a lot of confidence in your abilities, but today, something told you to be careful. You took a few more deep breaths, before bending your knees and pushing off. The ball left your hands with a satisfying swish, and you felt yourself land as the ball flew through the air and land in the basket, rolling a round before falling and bouncing around.
