“Commander,” Samantha said. “How much did you hear?”

“Enough to know Liara is threatening you,” Shepard said.

Samantha’s lip quivered. “My training didn’t prepare me to deal with the Shadow Broker,” she said. “I thought that what I was doing was right. But then I couldn’t go through with it.”

Shepard stepped forward and lifted her hand to wipe Samantha’s tears away. “Hey,” Shepard said. “Don’t blame yourself. I’ll figure out what Liara is up to. From now on, don’t do anything she instructs you to. Understand? Not until I know what the hell is going on.”

Samantha nodded. “Yea, Commander. May I make a suggestion?”

“Go ahead.”

“You know the room that Diana used to be in?” Samantha asked. “Well… it’s locked and EDI has no access to it. Might want to see what’s over there.”

Shepard thought. “Okay… thanks… I know who I need to pick up next.”
