Chapter 37 by Theyol Theyol

What is the video about?

Shelby and Lucy are kicked out

Earlier

“What’s up YouTube, it’s your girl Shelby Mission here with another video,” the blonde teen said into the video camera. “All you long time viewers know what today is,” Shelby said, holding her hand up to her chin in a cute pose. “It’s mine and Lucy’s birthdays!” At this, Shelby launched her arms in the air.

“That’s right…. we are finally adults!” Shelby announced with joy. “Lucy however is still a bit sad that her girlfriend broke up with her,” Shelby says as she makes an exaggerated frown face.

“But anyway, on to something less depressing. But first, a message from my sponsor…”

“Shelby, Lucy, come down here this instant,” a distant voice Shelby recognized as her mother called.

Shelby sighed, her smile vanishing from her face as she turned off the recording. “Seriously, now of all times,” Shelby thought to herself.

Regardless of how she felt at that moment, she also knew it wasn’t a good idea to keep her mother waiting. With ****, the slim girl pushed herself up from her desk and headed out to the hallway, where she met her sister, leaving her own room.

“Hey Lucy, do you have any idea what Mom wants?” Shelby asked her identical sister.

“I mean, it’s our birthday. Maybe it’s a surprise party?” Lucy answered.

“God I hope so”, Shelby replied.

As the two went down the stairs, they saw something they did not expect at all. It was their parents sitting on the couch, with two suitcases next to them.

“Uh…what’s going on?” Lucy asked their parents, raising an eyebrow as she did so.

“Please sit”, their father Patrick said, motioning them the second couch opposite of him. The twins did as they were told, albeit tentatively.

“Your probably wondering why we called you two down here,” their mother Lisa said.

“We were kind of hoping it would be a surprise party,” Shelby said cautiously, not liking where this was going.

Their mother gave a sly smile, not one of joy, or even pity, really. Neither Shelby nor Lucy could exactly place what type of smile it was.

“No, its… it’s not that. Your father and I have been talking…”

“Your not getting a divorce are you?” Lucy asked, a bit concerned. Their father laughed at this.

“Oh no, your mother and I love each other very much. What we were talking about is… well…”

“We think it’s time for you two to move out,” their mother finished.

Shelby and Lucy could only stare at their parents with identical looks on their identical faces. “What” both twins exclaimed at the same time, both jumping to their feet.

“Now don’t look at us like that,”their father said sternly, like he was taking to strangers instead if his daughters. “You two are now adults, and it is time for you to carry your own weight, and sink and swim on your own.”

“Why now!” Shelby yelled, not hiding her outrage. “In the middle of the fucking school year?! Why not what for us to go to college? Or even just the summer?”

Her parents' faces remained stoic, not moved at all by their daughters words.

“You need to learn to grow up” their mother said. “Learn the real world, get a real job.”

“Parents don’t kick their kids out at the earliest opportunity”, Lucy yelled.

“Also we make a lot of money on Youtube!” Shelby added.

Their mother scoffed. “That’s nit a real job, plus if you re making that much money, living on your own should be no problem.”

Shelby and Lucy stared at the person claiming to be their mother, their mouths open.

“Good parents don’t kick their daughters out on their birthdays the day before Christmas.”

“Please honey, not so loud that the neighbors hear,” their father said. “We want you to know we are doing this because we love you. We just need it to show some tough love.”

“I hate you” Shelby yelled louder, before turning to leave. “Shelby wait” he mother said. The blonde stopped and turned around. “Don’t forget your bag.” She said, lifting up the empty piece of luggage. If at all possible, Shelby looked even angrier.

Their father failing to read the room continued “You don’t hate us and you will see that we are in the right eventually.”

“I do hate you and since we are getting kicked out, this is the last time we will ever speak again.” Shelby said coldly.

This seemed to strike a nerve with her parents. “You have two hours. If your not gone by then, we will call the police.”

Shelby furiously grabbed the bag and marched upstairs to her now former room. She didn’t want to try anything physical with the people downstairs, lest she give them any ammo. Her sister Lucy followed her with her own bag.

“What do we do now” Lucy asked her sister when they reached the top of the stairs.

“Pack everything we can in your car and leave I guess”, Shelby replied in a hoarse whisper. “It’s in your name, so they can’t take that away.”

“It’s a Honda Odyssey” Lucy said in an annoyed tone.

“It’s all we have. Maybe we can go and live with coach Andrews” Shelby suggested, thinking of their gymnastics coach.

“Didn’t he get in trouble for allowing a student to live with him last year.”

“It can’t hurt to try, and it’s not like we have many other options.”

“Yeah I know” Lucy replied, dejected.

“Come on, we have two hours to pack. I’m not leaving anything for those two bastards”, Shelby said, not even willing to call them Mom and dad anymore.

They both went to their respective rooms and began to pack, and bring stuff to Lucy’s van. They made sure one of them was in the house at all times lest they be locked out. They didn’t speak a word to Patrick and Lisa, not even meeting their gaze or acknowledging them when they tried to talk.

The two twins successfully managed to clear out their rooms in the allotted two hour time period. Without saying a word, they both walked out the door, their heads held high. Before they did leave, they heard the click of the front door locking.

The two Youtube stars then got into Lucy’s van, and began to look for their coach’s house. Lucy was driving.

Suddenly a wave a emotion hit Shelby, as the implications of what just happened became apparent. The video she planned to record won’t do now at all. Solemnly she pulled out her cell phone, realizing they would need to get their own plan soon as well. She opened the camera app and switched it to the front facing camera, and began to records.

“Hey you guys, it’s Shelby. I got… I got some news I need to share with you all…”
