Feeling Doctor Kellerman's hand on top of her mask Batgirl felt a sense of relief knowing that soon she'd be free of the mask that had become a symbol of her illness. Yet as the doctor began to pull on her mask a feeling ran through Batgirl telling her that this was wrong.
"Stop" Batgirl cried out as she quickly moved her head trying to stop the doctor from removing her mask.
Removing his hand from her mask doctor Kellerman looked at Batgirl with confusion.
"Don't you want this, my dear?" the doctor asked as he tried to decide what to do next." I thought you wanted to get better you do Don't you? He said deciding his best move was to guilt Batgirl into letting him remove her mask.
"I do doctor," Batgirl said knowing she was letting her doctor down.
"Then what's the problem, my dear?" Kellerman asked.
"I don't know doctor it's just as you were about to remove the mask something inside told me that this was wrong," Batgirl said as she stared into the doctor's eyes. She could tell from the look on his face that the doctor was disappointed in her and, in truth so was Batgirl. She hated that she had failed this man who had become like a father to her since her arrival at the asylum. Yet as much as she knew the doctor only wanted to help her she still couldn't fully shake the voice inside that said not to trust him.
"It's ok my dear" Doctor Kellerman said." It's only natural for one to be afraid when taking such a big step but I believe in you" Doctor Kellerman said as he placed his hand on Batgirl's shoulder.
