Lux grits her teeth. She’s tempted to do as Atara says, but some mixture of stubbornness and compassion mixes with pragmatism – she needs to be rid of this collar, and only Atara knows how to do that. “Not really an option,” she whispers, beginning to tinker with the locks on Atara’s shackles. “Is there a key to – ?”

“They have it. In the next room.” Atara motions with her head towards a doorway. “You…Lux, listen. This is madness…”
