Chapter 20

Does Vyki keep it up?
She reveals herself to him
Thinking back about Lou and everything he’s done just in their circle of friends, Vyki is reminded how much a truly kind & nice guy he is. While he looks like the ex-linebacker he is, the guy was always ready to drop what he’s doing to help someone out and more than once gonna someone out of an unsafe situation. Moreover, Vyki is reminded of all the crazy and nearly abusive girlfriends he’s had over the years, while attractive, he doesn’t deserve to be strung along and teased like they probably did.
No, he didn’t deserve to be definitely didn’t deserve to be duped or harassed by people for going after ‘a guy in drag’ later. Besides, he was just trying to make the new girl feel welcome anyway as Vyki wasn’t like any of the model-like girls he’s been with. So even though he was being very nice, Vyki felt she had to tell him the truth because she also needed to ask him for a favor.
“Actually,” Vyki started, “there are two things. One I need to tell you about, the other I need to ask you for a favor.”
Lou wasn’t opposed to helping someone out. “I’m all ears and happy to help out a lovely lady,” he responded confidently. “Lay it on me.”
Vyki was almost frustrated he was being this nice about this. “Hold that thought and we’ll come back to it. However, about that taking credit,” Vyki started, ”Molly is actually in the bedroom resting off her migraine meds and hopefully joining us in an hour or so.” She then took a deep breath and confessed, “while I introduced myself as Vyki, that isn’t what you’ve known me as. You can think of it as a persona to fit into the roll I’m filling for the costume.”
Lou wasn’t really getting where this lady was getting at or what game they were playing, but he wasn’t exactly naïve to the crazy, “k, then who are you really?”
Vyki was really surprised that it was that far off, but maybe he just wasn’t that observant. Regardless, Vyki said with a cringe worried he might stomp out or worse when it finally clicked, “Lou, I’m Paul.”
Lou stared at her for a minute, looking deep in her eyes trying to figure out if this was some kind of prank or joke, when his brain finally stepped back & looked at the eyes & facial features of the person in front of him. Almost instantly, the veil receded, and Lou could see Paul. However, unbeknown to Vyki, this wasn’t exactly discouraging the reaction in Lou’s pants and that is what caused him to shift his legs and put his hands in his lap; not the discomfort or annoyance Vyki took it for.
“Wow,” Lou managed to utter, “I’m impressed. I did not see it. That make up is incredible.”
“Oh, Katie gets full credit for that. And the um...” Vyki said gesturing to her chest, “... the accessories. The costume and the whole idea was really Molly’s, too.”
“Well, regardless, no amount of make or clothes, and scheming are making up for how well you are pulling it off,” Lou complemented before continuing, “there are very few girls that can pull off that outfit with as much smoothness & comfort as you are.”
Vyki was shocked & blushed from such earnest praise and had to look away.
Seeing her look away and get some color under her face pant just seemed to endure her, er him, er Vyki to Lou even further, so he prodded her further, “you said you needed something?”
Vyki was obviously flustered and surprised he was ready to talk more & even willing to consider doing something for her. “Um, ya,” Vyki tried to recover, “um, Molly was going to go by the liquor store earlier today for supplies, but with this migraine she hasn’t had a chance to. Would you be able to run up and get them?”
Lou actually had to cringe at that particular request.
Vyki saw his apprehension and was afraid he misunderstood, “I’d be happy to pay you for it. We just raided the bar too much being stuck at home for the past several months.”
“Oh, it's not that,” Lou assured her. Seeing Vyki feel more at ease, he continued, “It's just I don’t drink and don’t know the first thing about ****. I’m not sure if I’d be getting you rot gut or top shelf.”
“Oh, I’m sorry, I thought you used to work at the bar,” Vyki almost pouting thinking she had remembered him having a jar at a few establishments.
Lou chuckled at that, “as a bouncer that usually worked the door. Hardly near the bar and never buying anything.” Seeing her get visibly disappointed by that, Lou offered up, “uh, you could run up to the store and I could keep an eye on things here for you. I know it would be a step down for the guests, but I could greet them.”
Vyki giggled at the implied compliment, “thank you, but I’m dangerous driving in these heels and not comfortable with that on these slick roads.” Vyki shivered at the idea of being stuck in public like this alone with a bunch strangers staring at her, or worse in a wreck trying to explain to a cop or paramedic. “Besides, knowing our group, no one will be here for at least an hour. I can just see if someone else can get it on the way.”
Who’s gettin' the hooch?
