She must go on a holy pilgrimage!
Her feet touched back to Earth and made prints in the snow.
Even in her state of total undress, the winter-night air did not bother her. In fact, she found the cold kiss of the North Winds rustling the trees to be quit exhilarating.
She walked through the snow, feeling compelled to follow the stray flakes of snow and dead leaves.
"The Gods of the Cardinal Winds are a fickle lot" her dad always told her. "They may lead you to where you must be, or they may carry you from it."
She didn't actually believe such wives' tales, but she felt now, more than ever, that she must.
