Chapter 9 by Guforess Guforess

How does Lorraine feel about the food?

She loves it!

Oscar tasted his stew and mashed potatoes. It was nice, the mashed potatoes being the right amount of creamy with the stew being nice and warm, the chunks of meat juicy and tender.

But how would Lorraine react? Is the monstergirl world food that different from human world food? Will this taste nicer than life energy? Oscar tried to gauge her reaction as he chews.

Lorraine took a nice big bite, taking it slow as she bites and chews, spreading the mush around her tongue as she ground the meat down with her teeth. She let the taste seep in.

"Mmmhhh!" Her burning blue eyes had a bright spark lit in it as she smiles, enjoying the taste. Lorraine swallowed the food and slowly took another chunk, her eagerness to just dig into the meal with no restraint evident, yet the calm and dignified manner of eating drilled into her for centuries held it's control and was kept intact.

"This meal is utterly delightful. You are a talented chef, Oscar Callahan." Lorraine compliments Oscar, taking another spoonful of the mashed potatoes as she tried to hide her joy from bursting out underneath that polite smile.

"Of course. Old family recipe." Oscar laughs as he felt relief that she liked his cooking, having dug in with a manner of eating less sophisticated then hers.

"You don't have to be so formal here. This is not a place of nobility, and I'm not an aristocrat." Oscar adds on, amused at Lorraine's need to act overly polite.

"This may not be a place of nobility, nor you an aristocrat, yet it is lovely all the same. Being of nobility does not automatically make a good man, but your actions do. I'd rather much spend the time with a kind-hearted commoner than a detestable noble." Lorraine gave her thoughts to Oscar after she finished swallowing her food, knowing how rude it was to eat with her mouth full. "But of course, I'll try not to act overly formal." She concludes.

Oscar heard the way her tone shifted when talking about the subject of nobility and detestable nobles. Did she have bad experience with aristocracy before? He wanted to ask her but held his tongue. She would tell him if she wanted.

They sat and ate, making small talk, until the pot and plates were empty. After that, Oscar took the cutlery, pot, and plates to the sink and started to wash. Wanting to help too, Lorraine took a wet cloth to wipe down the table.

What do they do next?
