Chapter 31 by Funtimes Funtimes

What's next?

She is too dangerous

The Queen's treachery had left a lingering fear in your heart. You knew you could never trust her to turn against you if given the chance, and so with one swift and clean cut of your blade, she was gone. Her begging was silenced as her head tumbled to her bed, and her body fell crumpled on the floor, lifeless. There was almost a calm effect in watching the last flicker of life leave the eyes of the woman who caused so much unnecessary ****.

Leaving the former Queen's Chambers, you stepped out into the hallway of her castle. To say it was empty would be an understatement. The once bustling corridors were now eerily quiet, void of any servants or guards that had previously filled them. Even the people of the town seemed to have changed. No longer did they come running up to beg for forgiveness; instead, they avoided you and sneaked off to their homes, one by one.

While not having constant interruptions was a welcome change, it gave you more time to focus on the daunting task of running two countries. It was no easy feat, and each day seemed to bring a new challenge. First, there was a raider attack on your traders. Your army quickly took care of the attackers, but not before they burned four storage houses, causing a massive food shortage to hit both Franic and your original country.

**** for a solution, you began searching for a country to trade with, only to be met with ****. In the end, you were **** to make an unfavorable trade deal just to prevent starvation. This deal pushed both countries into debt, forcing them to increase taxes, which led to unrest and even rebellion within Franic.

It seemed that every time you solved one problem, another would arise. It was almost as if there was an unseen **** working against you, as the dead Queen had foretold. So when distant cousins of the old king received support and blessings from other countries to retake Franic, you were not surprised. Within a year, you found yourself holding your mother/child in your arms as you listened to how three armies were preparing to invade. It was clear that the struggle for power was far from over.

How do you survive this?
