What is Lux’s next move?
She grabs what she can and gets moving
Before the guard can recover his senses, Lux quickly grabs the dagger he has sheathed at his belt. Then she squirms away to be out of reach before he can start kicking out at her, which he soon begins to do – swearing as he is unable to get himself free.
“Better stay quiet,” Lux tells him, “or I might have to make you quiet.”
That seems to do the trick. He settles down into a sullen silence.
Lux gives herself a moment to breathe and try to calm down. For a moment there, she felt like she might have been about to just let him do whatever he wanted to her – it’s a frightening thought, but she doesn’t have time to dwell on it. Staying one step ahead is her only hope for survival down here.
Once she’s ready, she picks up the man’s discarded cloak and puts it on. It’s far too big for her, but at least that means she can cover up reasonably well with it, and its earthy tones blends in better with the surrounding stonework than her bare skin does. She makes her way to the door, listening at it to make sure there is nobody nearby before she slips out, closing it as quickly as possible behind her.
