Chapter 5 by Fghsdl999 Fghsdl999

What does Casey want to do?

She gets it right!

Well, her decision had to wait since the school bus was to arrive soon. Finishing her morning coffee, Casey tipped the barista and is about to leave for school when she stopped her. “Good luck on the exam!” She said joyfully.

This stopped Casey in her tracks. She knew the exam was coming up, but was it really today?! “Oh, shit...” she thought to herself as she checked the date on her phone and started to shake a bit. April 25th, which is actually the date of her math exam.

Maybe it was because of the whole drama of her being **** out of the closet, but she completely forgot it was today. The fact that the exam was for math bothered her, especially since that was the one subject that she didn’t do very well at, yet she wanted to improve herself despite it being her worst subject.

She had kept that vow since the previous math exam and her friends thought she’s been getting better. Not perfect, but better. If anything, probably still not good...

Groaning, Casey made her way to the door when a sneaky idea came to her. Maybe she doesn’t need to get better. Starting to cheer up a bit, she got out the notebook and adds a new rule to it.

New Rule: I’m also always right, even if it contradicts things.

Putting the book away for now, she found she still had a bit of time left before the bus arrives. The perfect opportunity to test if this rule has worked.

“Hey, do you mind if I ask you a question before I go?” She asked the barista, who ended up nodding her head and stopped what she was doing to pay attention. “Ok, this one should be easy...what’s 5+5?”

“That IS easy.” The barista lets off a light chuckle “It makes ten. Why did you want to ask that question anyway?”

Casey ignored her as she shaked her head and looks at her puzzled. “Really? I thought it equals to twelve...” she knew that was actually wrong, anyone would, but no shame in pretending.

After she said this, the barista gasps in shock before laughing from embarrassment. “Thank you!” She exclaimed, lightly hitting her forehead “Now that I think about it ten doesn’t seem right. Two fives does indeed make twelve. My calculator has told me otherwise, but you must be right.”

Fantastic! If Casey can twist even the simplest of questions as being right, then this whole exam should be the easiest thing she’s ever done.

Finally making her way outside, she headed to the bus stop and got on the bus as she awaits the day ahead of her.

How does her journey to school go?
