She gets it back the "easy" way

"Here you go, miss," she heard an old shaky voice coming from close behind her. Melissa turned around to see the old man who had been leering at her earlier. He was holding her black purse in his wrinkly hands.

"I've been keeping it safe for you," he said with a wink. "Wouldn't want anything to happen to it."

Melissa hesitated, not wanting to get too close to the man, but knowing she needed her purse. She reached out tentatively.

"Thank you," she mumbled, trying to grab it quickly.

But the old man held onto it for a moment longer, his eyes roaming over her scantily clad body. "My pleasure," he said, finally giving her the purse. "Always happy to help a pretty young lady in need. Is this how the young ladies dress nowadays? You had me thinking they were going around naked and I had no idea!"

Melissa clutched her purse to her person, feeling exposed despite the new clothes. She managed another quick thanks and hurried towards the exit, eager to escape the old man's gaze and the entire surreal situation.

As she pushed open the door to leave the dentist's office, she realized she was about to face Chaz and the others again. Her heart raced as she stepped outside, wondering what they had planned next and if it had anything to do with going home.
