Chapter 9 by fantaghiro fantaghiro

What's next?

She calls you the next day.

The next day you were surfing the web when you got a call. Your dad was at some work thing, he spent a lot of time at the office these days, and your siblings were off doing their own thing. When your cell phone began vibrating and you saw Allison's name on the caller I.D your heart skipped a beat, but then you remembered. "Hello?" You asked, your voice quavery. The events of last night had dwelt on your mind, both that your father had effectively ended his relationship with your mother, and the fact that you had kissed her! You didn't know what you were thinking, you knew it wasn't Allison. But seeing her distraught like that, it had made you do what came naturally, comfort your girlfriend. Only that girl is now occupied by your mother.

"Tim?" You heard Allison's voice. "It's me, uh, Mom." She whispered the last part.

"Are you in public?" Was the first thing you said. She seemed confused for a moment then said no. "Then you don't have to whisper, it's not like the Men in Black are spying on us. And if they are, that's very rude." That made her laugh. You love that, and that is one of the things that Allison had loved about you. Stop thinking of her! "What's up?"

"Uhm, Tim. I think we should talk about last night." She said.

You knew this was coming. "I'm sorry." Was all you could manage.

"I knew you are. But this is still an issue and we need to have a serious talk about this." Her tone brooked no argument, you had only ever heard Allison use an authoritative tone once before, when she insisted you and her do a teacher student roleplay. You couldn't take it seriously but she seemed to love it. The thought stirred your jeans. "Is your father home?"

"No, he's at work." You responded.

She seemed to think for a moment. "Well I don't want to be there if he gets home, I think we both need time to cool down." You wanted to tell her what you really thought, that he wouldn't come around, but you didn't. "Could we meet somewhere? Coffee maybe? I love Kim and Andy but I can't drink the stuff they buy."

You suggested the Tim Hortons close to where both of you lived, and she agreed to meet you there. You took the spare vehicle and drove there in a hurry, excited to see your mom. She was already there when you walked in, seated with her hands around one of the place's paper cups and her eyes cast out the window. You walked up and seated yourself. She smiled, but it was more of a nervous smile that the one you had gotten at your greeting yesterday. "Hi Tim." She said almost shyly. She was dressed in a yellow blouse and a cardigan, you had seen both pieces of clothing many times before, but Allison usually didn't obscure her cleavage like your mother had done with a scarf draped around her neck.

"Hi, er- Allison." You shrugged. "Sorry."

"Don't worry about it. I need to get used to it in public at least, right?" She took a sip. "Thanks for coming."

"It's fine, how did you get here?"

"Kim and Andy let me take the vehicle, they know what the hospital said but they said they think it's fine." She explained. The way she said this surprised you, she was talking like she needed permission. Almost like Allison would have....You almost slapped yourself.

"That was nice of them. So you wanted to talk."

She looked around. "Yeah, about last night..."

"I didn't mean to." You said quickly." It just happened, and it won't happen again."

She nodded. "But still, Tim, I'm your mother inside your girlfriend's body. I know what kinds of things that must be doing to you."

You shook your head. "Really, it's fine."

"No, honey, it's not. I'm not naive, I know what you and Alli probably did over the past two years." For a moment you were worried that maybe she had read Allison's journal, but she just sighed. "I can't expect you to forget those things, I know she was very special to you. But we can't be the same thing that you and her were."

You didn't make eye contact. "Of course not." You mumbled. "But people still think we're, me and Allison, are going out. And that we're going to prom together" She nodded. This must be awkward for her, breaking up with her own son.

"Is there maybe anyone else you could take?" She asked. You thought about it, there probably were some girls, but you couldn't think of a single one who would be worth it. To you, Allison had been perfect, and you couldn't imagine taking anyone other than her.

"No, I'll just go by myself." You said sullenly.

There was a silence. Your mother stared down at her coffee and you glanced at your phone. "We'll go together." She said tightly.

"What?" You stammered. "You don't have to do that."

"I can't have you spending an important night like that alone, of course I'll go to the dance with you." She said, letting on she would be good for the banquet and maybe a slow-walk or two.

It was better than you could have hoped for. You were a little ashamed that you were glad you would still be seen with Allison, she was considered by many to be the hottest girl in school, and you had long looked forward to having her on your arm on that night. "Thanks." You rubbed your neck. "I really appreciate it."

"Anything for you." You'd heard Allison's voice say that to you before, but very differently. "But after the prom, I think we might want to change our Facebook status's."

You couldn't believe she'd say something like that, and you just laughed. For the rest of your time there you two simply chatted about how she was getting along, she talked mostly about getting used to Allison's house. She was cut short by Kim calling her and letting her know dinner was ready. You hugged each other goodbye and she walked out. As she walked to her car your eye was drawn to her tight ass, clad in a pair of Allison's leggings. You tore your gaze away. I shouldn't have to remind myself not to do that.
