Chapter 12 by HistoricoPublius HistoricoPublius

Does she believe him?

She buys it.

Thanks to Gilia's Lie to Me feat (courtesy of being Hellspawn), Jamir has to roll against her Deception DC of 15 rather than her Perception DC (12). 1d20+5=21.

"All right, I'll do it," Gilia says eagerly. "Where? I get off here once it's all closed."

"I think our chambers here should be sufficient," Jamir says with a smile. "That way we'll have privacy."

"Oh," Gilia says. She glances back at the bar. "All right, we can do that, but I'll have to be a bit later...if Luron sees me heading into customers' rooms he's going to assume that I'm doing...some other stuff."

"Well, we wouldn't want that," Hal says with a chuckle.

"And he'd want a cut," Gilia clarifies helpfully. "I just don't want him thinking I owe him money when I've just been trying out for you."

"Indeed," Hal says with a laugh. "That wouldn't be good."

"So...when you're done here, just head up to your room and I'll sneak up there after Luron leaves," Gilia says quietly. "I can't thank you enough for this...this opportunity. It means a lot."

"I'm sure we'd be delighted to have you," Hal says with a wide smile, stroking his purple whiskers. Gilia grins, nods, and hurries away to finish up her shift.

"I want her first," Turuk says to the others once she's out of earshot.

"Don't be a pig, you feathered slob," Jamir snaps. "I'm the one who convinced her to come. That means I get first dibs." The strix growls but, after a tense moment, nods.

Another scene done, I think! This one was not in Gilia's control, so the Chaos Factor drops back down to 5.

Later that night...
