She Runs

Skyler left Roxanne where she was, huddled on the floor and leaving a small pool of water from her sopping hair. She turned away from Roxanne for just a moment to dry her hands on the small hand towel hanging from the cupboard handle.

“Oh no, you don’t!”

Skyler lunged for Roxanne, who had sprung to her feet. Her spry figure moved faster than Skyler had intended and she just missed tackling Roxanne back to the ground.

“Fuck,” she muttered to herself.

She knew she couldn’t allow Roxanne to escape, or she would be right back to square one. And she couldn’t afford to lose any more of her clothes, or this could get really embarrassing real quickly.

Skyler gave chase as the punk princess fled back into the living room. She rounded the corner, where she witnessed Roxanne already on the other side of the room, ready to disappear into the bowels of the house. Roxanne looked back for a moment to see where she was. Skyler knew she’d never be able to catch her with so much distance between them.

Then Roxanne started to fall. She’d forgotten about the tripwire that she’d laid out for Skyler at the entrance to the living room.

“Aaaah…” Roxanne barely managed to get her hands out in time to brace herself. “Shit…”

Skyler rushed forward to recapture her quandary. Once again, Skyler wrestled her to her feet, but this time, Roxanne was putting up more of a fight to escape. The two girls spun around, jostling for position. Skyler tried to catch the tie still attached to her neck, and Roxanne attempted to get a lucky hit with her black-painted claws swinging wildly.

Roxanne twisted away from Skyler’s grasp and fled back into the living room again. But this time, it was Skyler that had a secret weapon given to her by her boss earlier that day.
