She's re-routed en route

Lucy felt lost in the grip of her own naked panic - she was being arrested; whisked away in the back of a cruiser to jail without a stitch of clothing!

As she listened in on the conversation between the police officers on the radio, her heart sank even further. The mention of the jail being full gave her a momentary cause for hope.

But then, her ears perked up at the mention of animal control and a free cage. Animal control? A cage? The realization hit her like a ton of bricks - they were talking about her, weren't they? She couldn't believe it. They were actually considering treating her like an animal, locking her up in a cage.

The horror of the situation fully hit her. Tears welled up in her eyes as she tried to comprehend the indignity of it all. She wasn't an animal, she was a human being. But the collar around her neck, the lack of clothing, the vulnerability she felt - it all made her feel like less than human.

Her mind raced with panic as she imagined being locked up in a cage like some kind of pet. The thought was too much to bear. She wanted to scream, to protest, to beg them to treat her like a person. Feeling a surge of panic, Lucy turned to the police officer, her voice trembling as she pleaded, "Please, you have to believe me! I didn't steal anything! I'm not a criminal, I swear!"

But the officer remained unmoved, her expression stern and unyielding. "Should have thought of that before you stole the sweater," she retorted coldly, her tone leaving no room for argument.

As the police car continued on its way, Lucy felt a sense of despair wash over her. She was completely at their mercy, and there was nothing she could do to change her fate. The squad car pulled up in front of a nondescript government building. This was really happening.

Lucy's heart pounded in her chest as the pair of brutish animal control officers escorted her out of the squad car and into the dimly lit Animal Control building. The stark surroundings sent a chill down her spine, and the echoing barks of caged dogs only added to her growing sense of dread.

The officers deposited her into a cage and sealed it shut with a padlock, deaf to her protests. The clang of the lock echoed in the concrete chamber, sealing her fate for the evening.

"Please," she begged. "Just let me make a phone call!" But they were already leaving, ignoring her completely.

With a sinking feeling, Lucy surveyed her new surroundings. The cage was small and cramped, barely big enough for her to stand up and turn around in. A bowl full of water sat in one corner, a pad for relieving herself in another, and a thin blanket was spread out on the cold concrete floor.

Lucy couldn't believe this was happening to her. She felt like she was living in a nightmare, surrounded by the constant noise of barking dogs that threatened to drive her mad. The smell of urine and feces hung heavy in the air, making her stomach churn with disgust.

Tears welled up in Lucy's eyes as she curled up on the blanket, trying to block out the overwhelming sensory onslaught. She felt utterly humiliated, stripped of her dignity and reduced to nothing more than a caged animal. The harsh overhead fluorescent lights clicked off, plunging the room into darkness.

As the hours passed, Lucy lay there, her mind consumed with fear and despair. She prayed for some kind of reprieve, some glimmer of hope to cling to in this grim situation. But deep down, she knew that she was completely at the mercy of the animal control officers, trapped in this nightmarish reality with no way out.
