Chapter 3 by CrawlingM CrawlingM

The image fades back to our hostess

She's confused and so is Alex

The blonde turned back towards the camera and gave it a small shrug. "I guess we're under new management, folks," she said she blinked in confusion. Then she blushed. "Um, we'll be right back after these messages," she said hastily as she got up from her seat.

Alex took a double take, but the image had gone. Had there been a snaking bulge creeping down her skirt as she got up? He shook his head as he began searching for more information online.

It didn't take many keystrokes before he came across the website they've made. Skimming quickly over the information, it seemed you could "opt out" from the so called new rules of reality by writing in your name to the website. Alex felt that felt sort of risky in itself, so he didn't do it but went on to read what was supposedly new.

Apparently, you could with some meditation and the right mood make alterations to yourself or others in your zone of influence. What did they mean by the "right mood" and "zone of influence" wasn't immediately obvious, but Alex figured it would be interesting to see if it worked.

But first, he had to go to the local shop to get some more snacks. His friends were coming along later and he needed to refill his storage. He closed his laptop and walked upstairs.

Marcus, his father, of latin descent, had just gotten back from work and was reading something on his phone. "Going out to buy more snacks?" he asked as he noticed Alex putting on his shoes and jacket.

"Yeah, getting friends over tonight," Alex said as he went for the door.

Marcus rolled his eyes. "Get some vegetables or fruits at the very least."

Alex rolled his eyes. "Sure, dad," he said sarcastically as he opened the door, where his mother, Janet ,was on her way inside with a pair of paper bags filled with groceries. five foot seven, She had a bit more fair skin than her husband and children, but her brown hair and tanning habits made most people think she was of a similar background as the rest of them.

"Hi, thanks for opening the door for me, Alex," She said, implicitly hoping he'd pause and hold the door for a second to let her in. Alex barely caught her drift and held on by a single digit for half a second. "Alright thankyouverymuchseeyoulater," she said as she slipped through the quickly closing door.

"Bye," Alex called through the closed door as he went for the garage, pulling out his bicycle and cycling off towards the shop. Back inside, Marcus had taken the bags off Janet as she took off her shoes.

"Heard about the weird news today?" Marcus asked as he put down the bags in the kitchen.

"I think I heard something on the radio, but it sounded weird," Janet said as she entered the kitchen. "One of the hosts coughed and got a capital G Goofy voice, and her male co-host suddenly pitched up and got a total valley girl accent. Then it sounded like they began making out, so I muted them."

"That does sound weird," Marcus agreed as he grabbed Janet's waist and hugged her close, kissing her.

"Someone's eager today," Janet said a few seconds later, breaking the kiss. Then she paused as she noticed something was changing.

Ominous rumbling silence
