Chapter 15 by HistoricoPublius HistoricoPublius

Is she able to do that?

She's able to get their sympathy, at least.

Make an Impression (Diplomacy) vs. Will DCs; she takes a -2 penalty for appealing to a whole group. 1d20+5-2=20! Wow. I am honest enough to admit to disappointment, but them's the dice.

"I..." Gilia looks down at Hal's grinning face, wide-eyed. She takes a deep breath. "I...I don't want to do that."

"Oh." Hal looks disappointed and removes his hand from her ass. "Well, that's your call. But I have to tell you, we don't really need a cook. This was going to be a bit of generosity from us, regardless."

"No, I know," Gilia says, trying to keep her irritation at the notion that this is "generosity" from creeping into her voice. "But...I really think you should give me a shot, anyway. Look," she says, looking around at them. "I'm not stupid. I know you might think I'm...naive for approaching you this way, but I really do want to get out of here. No one in Mudrin respects me - not because I take my clothes off here, but even before that. Look at me." She gestures to her horns, her reddish skin. "I have been an outcast since I was born, and ever since my mother died..." She swallows. "Well, all I'm saying is that I don't fit in here. And I think...maybe that's why most of you started adventuring." Turuk scowls; Jamir looks away from her. Bodill still hasn't looked up. "I mean, who else sets aside their whole life and starts just...wandering the world looking for trouble and **** and treasure? Only people who don't have much tying them down, I'm guessing. People who don't have many options where they started out. That's me. And I'm guessing at some point, somehow, that's all of you, as well."

Hal is looking at her with an entirely different expression on his face, one that's almost...impressed. Certainly thoughtful. "Well, supposing it is. What should we do, then?"

"Just let me come along," Gilia implores. "Without...all that stuff. I actually can cook a little, and I'll stay out of the way. Just give me a small cut of whatever it is you find in those ruins. I-I've been trying to save money to buy my own gear and go on the road, but it's hard, here...I barely made twenty copper bits tonight, and that was a decent night. I'll never make it out of here otherwise."

Does she convince them?
