Shayera & Jean meet

"...I did not have 'being chased around in tiny underwear by a giant robot' on my bingo card for today," Mary Jane Watson remarked as Koriand'r carried her to safety.

"Neither did I, but here we are," Kori said, flying MJ away from the rampaging machine. "It's a pity, too. I was really enjoying our photoshoot."

"Ditto. And I know Jean was looking forward to this as well..." MJ noted as Kori found a safe place to set her down. "Speaking of which, that robot's still after her. Better get back out there, babe."

Kori sighed, nodding her head in agreement. "I will return as quickly as I can, Mary Jane."

"I know. Stay safe out there, OK? I love you."

"I love you, too, my darling."

With that, Kori flew off, leaving MJ behind to watch from her vantage point. Kori joined Jean in battling the Sentinel, hitting it and keeping it off balance. Being in an area with so many people, Jean was hesitant to test the Phoenix ****'s powers, so she relied mostly on her mutant abilities as a telekinetic.

The pair was able to hold the Sentinel off for quite a while, but eventually, the machine started to overwhelm them. Still, the Sentinel had no answer for Shayera, who flew in at dizzying speed and struck it with her mace, the **** of her blow shattering the robot unexpectedly. Shayera landed near the machine's remains looking over the scene.

"I've neutralized the Sentinel, Bruce," Shayera reported into her comm. "The area's clear."

"Understood. I'll send in someone to collect the wreckage," Bruce responded. "I don't like this, Shayera. This doesn't fit Luthor's MO."

"You think he wasn't responsible for this one?" Shayera asked.

"I'm not sure. But Luthor wouldn't do something so... public," Bruce said. "At least not without some sort of plan. I'll look into it. In the meantime, stay sharp."

"Will do, Batman. Hawkwoman... out..."

Shayera trailed off and ended her call with Batman, her gaze turning to Jean as the X-Woman approached her, clad in her photoshoot lingerie. *She's stunning*, Shayera thought...

"I... Thank you," Jean said nervously, unsure what to say to the winged woman standing in front of her.

"That. Was. Awesome, Shayera. You wrecked that robot," MJ said as Kori flew her over to join them. "You're a total badass."

"Mary Jane. Koriand'r. It's good to see you again," Shayera smiled, looking at the gorgeous women in front of her. "I really got lucky there. I must have hit that Sentinel in a **** spot."

"Maybe. But your timing was perfect -- we probably would have been a lot worse off had you not shown up," Kori replied. "We are in your debt."

"Anytime, my friends. I'm... I'm glad you're all OK," Shayera answered, trying not to show her nerves.

"So... you know Hawkwoman?" Jean asked MJ & Kori.

"Yeah, we're pretty well-acquainted," MJ confirmed. "Shayera really helped me out with some interplanetary business a little while ago. We've gotten... very friendly since then."

Jean didn't need to read MJ's mind to figure out what she was implying. "Well, that's something we have in common, then," Jean said, mustering all her courage to introduce herself. "I'm Jean. We talked briefly the other day."

"I remember," Shayera said, extending her hand. "It's nice to officially meet you, Jean."

Jean shook the hand offered to her, trying not to let her nerves show. MJ & Kori couldn't help but notice the energy between the two women, and shared a knowing glance. All Shayera & Jean needed was a nudge in the right direction...

"Well, I guess we're done work for the day," MJ observed. "You still up for dinner with Kori & me, Jeannie?"

"Uhh, yeah. Definitely," Jean answered, looking at MJ and trying to keep her composure.

"Awesome. Shayera -- wanna join us? We've got room for one more," MJ asked.

Shayera shrugged. "...Usually after something like this, I would head back to the Watchtower to file my report..."

"That can wait," Kori encouraged. "I am sure the Justice League will let you know if they need anything from you. Besides, it looks like you and Jean have much to discuss."

"I... I suppose we do," Shayera agreed. "All right. I'll come along."

"Great! I guess Kori, Jeannie & I need to get changed before we do anything else," MJ said, noting that all three of them were still in their lingerie.

"I should probably go get changed myself. My battle suit's hardly suited to a night on the town," Shayera said, looking at her outfit. "And I should at least let the League know what happened."

"Gotcha. We'll meet back here," MJ said, and the group parted ways.

MJ, Kori, and Jean hurried back to the dressing room, MJ giving her lover a knowing smile. "I know you saw it, too. Those two have some serious chemistry," she said while Jean was out of earshot.

"There's certainly something there," Kori agreed. "And it seems to go beyond mere attraction. You don't think..."

"What is it, babe?" MJ asked, sensing Kori's unease.

"Remember our first time with Shayera? When we discussed her visions... The red-haired woman... The Dark Phoenix? Might Jean be connected somehow?" Kori wondered.

"Are you saying you think setting up those two could cause the destruction of our universe?" MJ asked incredulously.

Kori shook her head. "No, actually... in fact, I think the opposite might be true. I may be wrong, but I get the feeling their love might save it."

"You really are a hopeless romantic, you know that?" MJ smiled, kissing Kori on the cheek. "...And I love you for it. Alright then, babe, let's help save the universe."
