You mention the British author, William Shakespeare.

She raises her eyes a little bit. "Hmmm, are you a star-crossed lover or a to-be-or-not-to-be kind of guy?"

You struggle for a moment to remember which lines came from which works. She doesn't bat an eye, seemingly satisfied with your non-answer.

"I enjoy the bard just as much as the next person," she continues, "But I always have trouble following unless I watch it performed on stage."

You think back to the last time you've seen any stage play, let alone one written by Shakespeare. You do your best to hold conversation, but it soon becomes clear that neither of you are all that interested in talking more about it.
