Shadow and Blood

Midnight had waited another hour before moving. Once dusk had settled in, he began approaching the castle underground until he reached the walls. Coming up, he tentatively touched it. Perfect. He could feel the resistance of the holy magic, but with his immunity in place, he slipped past with mild discomfort. He had no idea if he could wipe out an entire army, but fortunately, he shouldn't have to. All he had to do was hit the necessary targets and their numbers wouldnt mean much. He had 3 and a half hours before Dana and Malena were set to begin following their instructions and only an hour after before Raquel would follow hers. Time to get to work.

Exiting the wall, he dove underground and crossed the crowded courtyard. The entire area was packed with soldiers but he could tell that word of the demon army withdrawing had already gotten out. Clusters of soldiers stood around drinking, nearly a quarter were napping and several songs mixed together throughout the ranks. Sticking to the shadows, he zigzagged across until he reached a large barricaded room and slipped under the door. He emerged in a large armory. Jackpot. As he scanned the room, he noticed there were 4 soldiers running inventory: three men and a young woman. Fortunately, numbers dont mean much when facing a good surprise attack. Preparing four tentacles, he lashed out and wrapped a tentacle around each of their throats and lifted them into the air. As he emerged from the floor, he double checked his surroundings before turning to his new captives. Slowly, he sharpened another tendril and raising it up, proceeded to stab one of the male guardsman four times in the chest. As he plunged it into him, the guard twitched and convulsed before finally dangling loosely. With a quick flick, he flung the body into the corner before turning to the other terrified soldiers. As he proceeded, he extended two other tentacles and began pulling the assorted weaponry and armor to the center of the floor as he spoke.

"Well I think I have your attention now. So heres what I want. Tell me where the mages are located inside the castle and I'll show you mercy."

The three remaining soldiers clearly dont trust this ultimatum as they try to scream and alert their friends outside. With a sigh, Midnight brought his sharpened tentacle up and plunged it through the chest of the next guard, tightening his tentacle to silence the attempted screaming.

"Now I know you dont trust me, but you see I'm here for some very specific people, so its not necessary for me to kill you. Now..." he brings the sharpened tentacle up to the eye of the third male guard. "Where are the MAGES?"

Loosening the tentacle around the female guard, she sucks in a mouthful of air. As he held up a finger to his face for quiet, Midnight brandished a tentacle at the other guards throat.

"The majority are garrisoned on the next floor up in the southwest corridor, and their commanders will be stationed in the central tower with the royal advisors."

"Thank you for the help." Tightening the tendril, he kept up the pressure until she passed out, before laying her on the ground. Turning to the other guard, he smiled. "It's good that she didn't have to see what happened to you." With a sharp twist he snapped the guards neck. As a weeb, he had watched enough anime to know that leaving enemy troops alive could only backfire. As he focused his attention on the armaments, it only took him a few more minutes to finish stacking the gear. As he finished, he began casting domain and opened a portal under the stack, dropping all the equipment into his domain. Finally, he threw the three dead guardsman through the portal as it closed.

Well that was one thing taken care of. Time to deal with these mages. Diving into the floor again, he proceeded up the wall and through the ceiling.
