Sexploitation Comedy

Sexploitation films are movies that serve basically as a vehicle for the exhibition of gratuitous nudity and non-explicit sexual situations. The genre lived its golden era during the 1960s and early 1970s. Along the 70s, interest in sexploitation flicks decreased, due to the popularization of erotic and pornographic cinema. Not many back then imagined that the 2020s would be the decade of the genre's resurgence.

The main agent responsible for the Sexploitation Renaissance was Jiyuu. The Company's CEO explained how it all begun in an interview years later:

"We wanted to create products that would appeal to the international markets, and we knew that the clue to that was casting foreign celebrities. Since we would not have convinced any famous actress to participate in a pornographic production, we were considering different projects for erotic films. Then my assistant, Mr Yamamoto, had the idea that would give us millions of subscribers and would end up changing the landscape of modern cinema: sexploitation flicks, just like the classics from the 60s, but done with a decent budget and modern-day special effects. They were entertaining movies, with a plot that could incorporate comedy, horror, action, or science fiction, but they were also the perfect medium to show nudity and spicy scenes".

The film that started it all was the now famed The Naughty Pukwudgie. It quickly became a cult movie all over the world and it proved that investing in well-produced sexploitation pictures with a proper budget and well-known actresses was a winning strategy. After that one came several others, all becoming instant classics for millions and a successful vehicle for Jiyuu's international expansion.
