Sex Education
It was supposed to take just one day. Then Maya said again, “Teacher.”
Victoria had scheduled sex education for this morning. Maybe because she was still agitated after yesterday. The water. The goggles. The lanes. The wetsuit in the corner. The body that couldn’t find rest at night. A subject that promised distance but offered none. She stood there in a closed-neck dress, a blouse underneath, everything long, everything proper, and wrote the words “FEMALE BODY” on the board as if it were just a topic.
But after just a few minutes, Maya began to cry.
Not loudly. A sob that made her drop her pen. The class turned around. Noah raised his eyebrows but said nothing. Victoria interrupted.
“Maya. What’s wrong?” Maya wiped her face. Her cheeks were wet. Her voice was small.
“You don’t like me. You promised us you’d be there for us.”
Victoria took a deep breath. The contract lay somewhere inside her, heavier than chalk. “I’m here for you.”
She deliberately left out the word “like.” Maya swallowed, and the tears came more freely.
“See? You can’t even say that you like me. Probably because I’m trying to do everything right and point out the rules you gave us. Do you know how hard that is for us? Not a single minute out of line. Always afraid. And yet we go along with it because we think you’re cool. Because you’re one of us. And then you gave me a dirty look and told me to shut up.”
Victoria felt guilty. That look she’d given after her ass had been spanked. “I’m sorry,” she said. “And just because someone points out the rules doesn’t mean you should punish them. What did you want to tell me?”
Maya shook her head. Her curls clung to her wet cheek.
Noah chimed in. “I think she means you broke a dress code rule on Wednesday.”
Victoria thought it over. The jumpsuit. The shower. The long fabric. “That can’t be right. My jumpsuit was buttoned up. And it wasn’t too short.”
“Yeah,” said Noah. “But the dress code says you have to wear underwear. And you weren’t wearing any.”
“But you guys forced me—”
Maya sniffled. The sound cut her sentence in half. Victoria corrected herself, more gently.
“You guys said I had to take off my pants. The jumpsuit. The punishment.”
Noah remained matter-of-fact.
“Even so, you should have been wearing something. Underneath.”
“But someone stole my clothes. Or they got lost. After the shower.” She didn’t want to accuse anyone.
“The rules don’t mention excuses.”
Victoria accepted it, because acceptance was the price of the contract. She looked at the distraught Maya, her little nose red, her eyes shining, the notebook already within reach again.
“Okay,” said Victoria. “What do we do now?”
Noah suggested, “We’ll make up for the punishment. And I think Maya gets one wish.”
Victoria thought that was a good idea. Too good. The way you might think something sounds fair but feels like a trap. “So, Maya. What’s your wish?”
Maya wiped away her last tear. Her voice was clear again. “I’d like to lead the class today. I’ve prepared well.”
Victoria smiled despite everything. “That’s a great suggestion. Really.” She took a breath. “And then please tell me my punishment. Because I did something wrong.”
Maya smiled again. She opened the book and pretended to search through it. Her finger moved. Too slow to be a coincidence. Too fast to be a doubt.
“Here it is. Dress Code. Chapter Five. Underwear. Ah. Here. No underwear.” She read aloud so the whole room would hear. “If a student wears no visible underwear, it is a sign of inappropriate exhibitionism. This behavior is to be eradicated through humiliation. Punishment: The student remains naked for the duration of the class and may be actively involved.”
Maya looked up. “That’s just fabulous.”
Victoria was shocked. Naked. In front of the class. Sex education. Actively involved.
Then she thought she’d seen something wrong in Maya’s laughter. Was she actually happy about this?
No. No false claims. Not out loud. Not without proof. Just that feeling in her stomach—cold and sharp.
“Fine,” said Victoria. “Rules are rules.” She undressed. First the dress. Then the blouse. She stood there in her underwear: black panties, black bra—fabric that had been a source of security that morning. Maya nodded. Onward.
Victoria unhooked her bra. Her breasts fell heavily forward, warm, her nipples already hard—a betrayal in the gym’s cool air. Then the panties. She slid them over her hips, over her still-sensitive buttocks, over her smoothly shaved pubic area. The black fabric landed on the chair like a period at the end of a sentence.
She was naked. The class breathed audibly. Noah’s gaze lingered a beat too long on the cleft, where no hair remained to protect her and her labia touched lightly. Sofia stared at the blackboard, which didn’t help anyone, because Victoria was standing between the blackboard and the window.
“Then teach,” Victoria said hoarsely. “You’ve prepared.”
Maya stepped forward, the book under her arm, a pen serving as a pointer.
“We’re doing anatomy. Hands-on.” She led Victoria to the window. Light fell on skin, on curves, on the red glow on her buttocks that hadn’t quite faded. “Ms. Chapell has agreed.”
Victoria stood at the window. Inside, twenty faces. Maya didn’t put the tip of the pen on the paper. She held it in the air, a centimeter in front of Victoria’s collarbone, and spoke as if the curriculum called for a body instead of a transparency.
“Chest. Rib cage. Here’s the breast.” The pen moved. Victoria swallowed as the plastic almost touched the skin—the heavy curve, the dark areola, the hard nipple. “Areola. Arousal is increased blood flow. Do you see that? That’s not a mistake. That’s physiology.”
A few boys were watching too closely. Bulges in their pants. Hard cocks beneath the fabric. Maya noticed and smiled not with her mouth, but only with her eyes.
“Next. Abdomen. Navel. Lower abdomen.” The pen dropped. Victoria wanted to close her thighs but wasn’t allowed to, because Maya quietly said, “Stand.” “Pubic mound. Inner and outer labia. Ms. Chapell is shaved. That makes it easier to see the shape. That’s the point.”
The tip of the pen hovered over her slit. Victoria got wet. Not much. Enough that the light could give it away. She clenched her teeth and remained the blackboard that was breathing. Suddenly, the door opened.
The principal stood in the doorway, his face red. The atmosphere shifted. Victoria wanted to raise her arms.
“Are you naked?” asked the principal. His voice was too high-pitched. Maya was quicker. “Yes, Mr. Principal,” Maya replied immediately. “We’re doing anatomy right now. Ms. Chapell has agreed to let me demonstrate on her.”
Silence.
“Do you know the movie *Pocket Money*? That’s exactly what we’re doing here. Sex education. The body. No secrecy.”

The principal looked around. Everyone was there. Adult faces. No children in the front row. Noah’s hands on his notebook. Levi’s pants too tight. Victoria naked by the window, her breasts pale in the daylight, her pubic area exposed, the pencil still in Maya’s hand like a pointer of innocence. The principal cleared his throat. His face remained red.
“All right. I said you could do whatever you wanted. No one’s under eighteen. Carry on. But step away from the window.” A quick glance outside, as if the gravel might complain. “I’m looking forward to seeing the grades on Monday.”
The door didn’t close all the way. Then it did.
Maya exhaled.
“Away from the window,” she repeated kindly. “Ms. Chapell, please step to the center. Those who are actively involved remain actively involved.”
Victoria stepped away from the glass. Every step made her breasts sway. Every step revealed the wet sheen between her lips. She stood in front of the first row, her hands at her sides, because covering up would mean avoiding humiliation, and the book demanded humiliation.
Maya tapped her pen against her own notebook.
“Where were we? Reproduction. Arousal. The male body reacts visibly.” She deliberately kept her gaze from wandering to the bulges—and yet it wandered anyway. “The female body does too. Ms. Chapell, breathe. Exactly. Look at the nipples. Look at the blood flow. That’s the material. Not the giggling.”
Victoria breathed. The room smelled of chalk and skin. Somewhere, chlorine was still dripping from her memory.
“Any questions?” Maya asked.
Victoria Chapell stood still. Naked. In the middle. Actively involved.
And in Maya’s smile—which no longer needed a tear—there was something that Victoria saw.
