You groan and text back. "The day's not starting out so well. Can't we take it easy this year?"

"No way!" Chris writes back. "C'mon, you're the only guy anyone trusts to come with us!"

"Yeah, because we're all too old to go Christmas caroling!"

There was a pause. "That was years ago! We've matured!"

"Have we?" You ask. "They don't trust us after Dana's prank night included pantsing people in the snow!"

You mull over the text as Chris sends you another one. "Pleeeez?! I promise you won't regret it!"

How Chris was able to still win you over with that "Please" after so many years was beyond you. "Alright, I'm on my way."
