Chapter 8 by ten-tackle ten-tackle

I sense a time-skip

Seven years pass

This is still not really a story chapter; the first chapter was to introduce the MC, the second to introduce the most important characters starting out, this one is to set the stage.
Going by my average writing speed you can expect the first sex scene by Q1 of 2525

Anthy took about one and a half years to learn the language to the point, that he no longer needed pictures or other aids to communicate. Though needing and using were different things, as he found that he vastly preferred signing over generating audible speech.

Over the course of this time Anthy got to learn the family, that had taken him in:

The father, Rietor, at 56 at the time was by far the eldest in the household. He was an extremely soft and gentle person, who preferred working the household over the lucrative work in the mine. What was very odd to Anthy to observe was his relationship with his wife Wanka.

She was a lot younger than him. She was 33 years old and contrary to Rietor was both very dominant and sexually open, to the point that as soon as she learned that Anthy understood human sexuality, she started complaining how Rietor simply couldn't keep up with her sex drive.

Rietor for his part didn't get flustered. Contrary to her, he firmly believed, that he was too old for her and when she had first started flirting with him, he had repeatedly tried to hook her up with others, up until she dragged him to the proverbial altar.

Then there was the issue of Rietor's sickness. Describing that shortly after Pierun's birth he was afflicted with an ulcer, that to Anthy sounded like testicular cancer. While a surgery had successfully ended the sickness, it had taken its toll on the affected organ, driving Rietor's already “prude” sex drive down to almost nonexistence.

Much to Wanka's clear frustration her husband appeared to be unbothered by this, simply encouraging her, to find more capable lovers. Anthy was unsure just how serious their fights about this topic were, since they usually ended with Rietor saying something to the effect of “I told you to marry someone your own age.” and Wanka laughing in a sarcastic tone and kissing his cheek or slapping his ass, before going into her workshop.

The income earner in the household was usually not Rietor, but Wanka. She was a tinkerer and inventor. Her works went from the insignificant but universally useful, like fully mechanical food processor, powered using the magical plants, to the game-changing but specialized, like the energy wall that contained the wild energies around the mine Anthy had come into existence as a slime. This invention allowed for the clamation of several hundred square miles of stable land. On this pole. Because apparently this world was stuck between two magical poles, one that blasted exorbitant amounts of mana and the other blasting antimana, with the land being constantly created on one side and annihilated on the other and all live forms and civilizations being **** to migrate towards the mana-pole either constantly at about 5 centimeter every years, or hop 6 kilometers every hundred thousand years.

Being raised in a capitalist society Anthy assumed somebody had to have gotten rich off these inventions, but the loosely feudal society worked differently. While the invention of the energy walls meant, that on paper Wanka was the duchess of most of the thusly made available land, that didn't mean she simply could levy taxes from her neighbors. Sure she could have and still could ask for payment, whenever anybody wanted to use some of her land, but she simply gave it away up to 3 hectare per person for free, which was only odd, in that most land owners usually limited ahead of time, how many people they would accept and would usually only give somewhere between 1.5 to 2 hectare per person for free.

Wanka acknowledged, that she could have gotten a lot more money for her inventions, if for example instead of immediately giving copies of the blueprints away for free and only charging for building machines herself, she had kept her designs a secret forcing all interested parties to buy her machines directly from her instead of commissioning any qualified workman to build the parts and assemble them themselves. But neither Wanka nor Rietor had any aspirations for riches and so she was content to tinker in her workshop and building a few commissioned machines here and there to finance the life of her family living in a hovel with a large vegetable and herb garden.

Liha, despite at at that point 16 years old visibly in puberty, barely grew any more, much to her annoyance, since the three year younger Pierun was slowly but surely catching up, even though she, contrary to her sister had yet to show much signs of puberty.

In those one and a half Anthy had also told the family of his past and reflected on his present. With his human brain gone, so had most of his mental issues. And so as the family simply opted to simply treat them in accordance to how they perceived his behavior, he considered himself literally reborn. Sure he would cherish the memory of his sister, but he could easily accept himself as a completely different person from Anthony Higgins, who would have come into work on the last day of earth.

And so it was decided that Liha could show Anthy the village and introduce him to her friends.

Another six years passed and much to Liha's frustration Pierun, once puberty had properly kicked in for her, had quickly gotten taller than she was. The 19 year old young woman now stood at about 1,8 meters as tall as her father and obviously relished in calling her elder sister, who had not grown beyond 1,6 meters little. Liha was now regularly leaving the house for weeks at a time. She was training to be part of the “Frontier Rangers”, a group that was somewhere between a mercenary company, an army and the ministry of forestry. In the event of a war or something similar they were the first line of defense as they were the only large group of trained fighters.

However during peace times their members were kept busy with two very different kinds of work. For one they were the number one source for protection, whether it was policing a larger settlement or escorting a caravan.

On the other side it was them who took care of the environment. After all this world lived from magical ingredients, which could either be mined like the crystals, farmed like the flowers, or taken from sometimes dangerous wildlife. For example using the antler of the mini-moose were the easiest way to build a refrigerator that could run on the magic flowers. The Frontier Rangers went after poachers, took care of wildlife refuges and made sure that especially dangerous creatures, like overgrown slimes or dragons did not get to close to the settlements.

At 22 years old Liha was technically to young to join, however given that she had aced every test they had given her despite her size and both of her parents had given their blessing, they had decided to enroll her into the training courses, that would not yet take her into direct action and have her work as hand in the closest base until they could officially allow her to join the fighting ranks at 25.

Pierun for her part wanted to follow a similar career to her mother and push the frontier of science and magic. Only there was one problem: Wanka was almost entirely self-taught. By now she was of the opinion, that it was nothing short of a miracle, that she had so rarely blown herself up and only got badly injured that one time. She had taught Pierun everything she knew, but absolutely wanted her to get a proper education, before giving her blessing to let her experiment on her own.

But there was no university on this world.

Not in the sense, that in this universe that word didn't exist, or that the institutions of learning were organized in a different way.

Rather the entirety of the habitable space of this world was roughly 8000 miles across. On one end was the mineshaft Anthy had sprung into being with its mana-pole that slowly created new land, on the other end was an anti-mana-pole well, which would slowly annihilate the land. In between was a vaguely elliptical plane that was not to heavily disturbed by earth quakes (which were an almost daily occurrence, but surprisingly gentle).

And so Rietor one day found himself in front of the mirror cursing the invention of knifes: “Can't you help me?”, he asked Wanka.

“Babe, if I could use a razor, my body would be smooth as clean plate. Way easier to clean skin than hair and I'd no longer have the irrational fear of burning my arm hair.”

“It's not that irrational, when it happened twice!”, he joked.

“If you're just gonna insult me, I might just find myself a lover”, she … joked?

“They better be better than me in bed”, the man said in a calm tone, before getting back to the topic at hand: “Are you sure, there's nothing you can do? Like some fire, that doesn't burn skin, or maybe a way to protect the skin from the blade?”

“No not really. You could ask Anthy.”

“What?”

“Slime-enzymes dissolve hair much easier than skin, plus Anthy is really good at controlling what he does and doesn't dissolve. You could press your face into him and he could give not just a shave but a perfect Pres-chem-style.”

“And right after he can rip out ever follicle on my head, so I never have to look this stupid again.”

And so you helped style Hietor. The Pres-chem-style was a ridiculously complex arrangement of braided and shaved patterns as a beard. Having a humanoid barber maintain it took hour long sessions and a lot of money and so naturally it was the most respectable hairstyle in the world where the most advance university of science was.

The mana- and anti-mana-pole were not unique to this world. Rather the world Anthy and his new family was considered to be at the bottom of a large number of worlds. The poles could best be described as leaking pipes which transported mana from the “top” world, “down” through five other world, then made a U-bend in the “bottom” world they were in and then transporting anti-mana back “up”.

Nobody was sure, how, but at some point in history the top world managed to establish a form of domination and so they had done their best, to concentrate the highest levels of bureaucracy, interuniversal relations and scientific knowledge in their world, while the bottom world was mainly living through subsistence farming and exporting natural resources.

So for Pierun to get the best education possible they had to get her a scholarship program in the Everchange University of magica and engineering.

And so now Anthy was styling Rietor's beard, while Wanka looked on curiously: “Do you think you could shave me, too?”

“You need to wait another two weeks, before your beard can be braided.”

“Babe, I wasn't joking, when I said I wanted to get rid of my body hair. I mean hell, how are women supposed to wear these fashionable skin paintings, when there's hair in the way.”

“I mean … yeah, I can't think of a better way of getting rid of body hair.”

And that was how Wanka came to see Anthy as a potential lover for the first time. The two parents made their way to the academy leaving Liha in charge of the house.

And with absolutely no hesitation they both demanded to receive the same treatment as their mother. Liha reasoned, that less hair would allow sweat to be washed off more easily and Pierun figured that if she got the scholarship for Everchange, she might as well get ready for the local fashion.

Anthy had been shown around and been a mild curiosity for Liha's friends, who believed him to be a tamed slime. Much to both her and Pierun's frustration none of them could be bothered to pay enough attention to him, to realize just how special he was.

And so seven years after meeting her, he joined Pierun on her interview at Everchange University by coating her skin beneath her clothes with his body.

The start of Pierun's adult life
