Chapter 10 by battleoide battleoide

What's his answer?

Set up camp for the night

"Yeah, we should probably set up camp for the night. Up ahead is as good as anywhere...I think."

Titania replied with a curt nod and continues into the clearing, hips swaying hypnotically with each step. Her leather pants are skin tight, clinging to every curve; her newly reshaped ass pushing the seams of her brown leather pants to just before their breaking point. Still, she hadn't noticed the changes.

Jerry follwed the lightly worn path after her, crunching loudly through the underbrush. Titania glaired glaired disapprovingly over her shoulder at the noise. Jerry was no Ranger; in fact, Jerry still didnt have a class if his stats window was to be believed.

Titania grounded her pack at the foot of an old oak tree dominating the center of the clearing. From the hand carved mesages on the tree, this was a somehwat well used resting place for travelers at some point before the orcs had made camp in these woods.

Jerry took some time to explore the UI, checking his stats and sorting through his meager inventory as Titania started to make camp. He's dressed in a well-worn tan tunic and brown pants, his leather hunting boots are well broken in and comfortable. On his belt is a hand-me-down shortsword and the coin pouch looted from the orc.

Beyond the ability GUI that appears in Developer mode, there is a long list of stats and skills in the status window. Glancing through them, he comes to the conclusion he's fairly average all around. Luckily, those years in the boy scouts seems to have paid off as a few extra points in the survival and outdoors skills.

Jerry busies himself with gathering dry wood and kindling, setting up a stone campfire not far from the tree. Titania has unrolled a sleeping mat and started to errect a surprisingly modernized tent. She notices you staring at her as she fishes the last pole from her pack. "Dwarven Army Surplus. They might prefer sleeping in the ground but they definently know how to make a good, compact tent. Don't let anyone tell you anything different"

"Where'd you find Dwarven Army Equipment?" Jerry asks. Based up the strategy guide, he shouldnt start to see dwaven gear till closer to mid-game.

"A little shop up in the capital-," she grunted, snapped the ends of the rod together with a click, "-Veteran from one of their Hold Wars ran the place, sold a whole bunch of hand-me-down gear. Dwarven, orc, elven. Good finds there. If you know what you're looking for."

He nodded in reply, returning to the task at hand. He'd been trying for a few minutes now to get the fire going, twisting the stick between his palms to get the kindling to catch to no avail. The system for the game ran on random number generation, much like the old pen and Paper games did. The better your skill the higher your chance of success. If you got a skill high enough, you could practically pass any skill check 100% of the time.

Frustrated, Jerry finally broke down and brought up Developer Mode, maxing his outdoors skill. The tooltip at 100% skill level describing the user as a grizzled outdoorsman. He closed the window and returns to the fire.

Almost instantly, the kindling took, a puff of smoke signalling a critical success. Before long, he had a roaring fire going.

Titania stands up and walks her way to the fire, a rabit in each hand. Jerry has already built a pair of spits over the fire for the meat and has gathered a modest pile of wood beside it for fuel. She nods approvingly at the set up before sitting down.

"Could I trouble you for a few coin for the meal? I was expecting to collect more from the traps this morning and eating both of these rabbits is going to put be back a few more copper than I'd like."

You have a odd mix of coins in the looted purse, plenty to cover for the meal and then some. But, your fooling with the outdoor skill earlier has left you curious as to how good you can get at the other skills.

Do you pay her?
