Selena's Chambers

Selena sat on her bed, arms wrapped around her legs for comfort. She’d dressed at least, and had the collar, leash and shackles removed. The guards had left her in her chambers alone, but were waiting outside the door in case she tried to escape.

She sobbed, thinking how stupid she had been. Did she really expect loyalty from the Shadow Blades of all people?

Why had she not checked that she wasn't being followed before entering her uncle's chambers?

She couldn’t help but feel her heart thud at the thought of what might happen to her or Varga now. What had happened to the tiara. That tiara was the source of her family's power. Other families knew they had it, and it kept the three human families in check.

And Varga too? Hopefully he wasn’t too badly injured. Hopefully Giuliette would keep her word and keep him alive.

The door opened, and Selena looked over to see who it was.
