Seeing what Paula became

Jen jogged to the door and slipped her key in, then opened it. Dominic was right behind her, and they both slipped inside. As they walked in, hearing the TV, Jen walked into the living room and gasped at what she saw.

"Whoa, guess you were right to be worried about that coin," Dominic said, looking at the now massive Paula. Jen nodded stiffly, then walked over and shook Paula.

"Huh? Jen? What's wrong?" Paula asked.

Jen hesitated, then remembered Leo. He hadn't remembered Jed. It seemed only Dominic did. "Uhh, Paula. Do you have that coin? I think they're doing things."

"Obviously they are," Paula said. She struggled to reach into her pocket and pulled out the golden coin.

Jen reached out. "Can I borrow that for a bit, try to make sense of this?" Paula seemed reluctant, but then nodded almost like she was giving up a fight that hadn't even started. Jen took the coin and stepped back. She was barely to the foot of the couch when Paula started snoring again.

"How does this one work?" Jen asked, looking around. She wanted to put it in her pocket, but she didn't have one. She settled for slipping it into her bra. "I mean, I remember skinny Paula, but she doesn't remember guy me?"

"Do you think other things have changed here? Are you guys still together?" Dominic asked. The pair started looking around, and found that what was once the spare bedroom was now decorated and full of what had to be Jen's stuff. She let out a shuddering breath and sat on her bed, tears stinging her eyes.

"What the hell?" she asked. "How does something like this happen?"

Dominic sat on the bed next to her, putting an arm around her shoulder, and squeezed her into a sort of hug. He felt so strong, and warm, and his shampoo or deodorant or cologne smelled really nice. She suddenly felt an urge to kiss him, but she wasn't sure why.
