Chapter 18

Who do we follow?

See what Ariawyn is up to.

Meanwhile, Ariawyn was down stairs on guard duty. She could hear some of the sounds of the young couple in their love making in the tub earlier. Now she was hearing more from upstairs, possibly from the mother. Damn succubi, she thought to herself. She was never fond of their sexual antics. It was probably because of her upbringing.

Letting out a sigh, Ariawyn got her mind back on her job. She could sense the barrier was still up. With that, her job will be much easier.

A few moments later, Ariawyn’s phone went off. She quickly took it out and opened the new message. It was a report on the findings from the crime scene. So far, the investigators had not found anything unusual. Still no sign of how the killer got in or out. No signs of magical energy anywhere at the scene. As for the bodies, they were able to account for all of the parts. According to the police, none of the neighbors noticed anyone enter or exit the house, other than the male victim. One neighbor did say she heard what sounded like a scream around 10 pm, but she was unsure of what it was.

So, they got nothing, Ariawyn thought to herself in frustration. The only ways the killer could have left the house was with a key or with magic. Assuming the killer even left the house.

Of course, there are ways to remove traces of magic, but it would be difficult to do that if they used magic to leave the house.

What’s also troubling is the motive, Ariawyn continued. The only disturbance in the house were the bodies of the victims. There were no signs of the killer looking for something in the house. So, if the killer’s goal was to **** the victims, then why?

Ariawyn continued to ponder over this mystery throughout the night, trying to piece together what happened. However, she couldn’t come up with anything. The best she could figure was that it was a random killing, done by someone prepared to get in and out without leaving a trace. A well-prepared **** for two random people? She thought to herself. That’s a bit odd, but not impossible.

Ariawyn pulled her phone out to check the time. Morning was about an hour away. She was about to start preparing for the morning when she felt something breach the barrier. She swiftly turned and moved towards the breach.

What's next?
