Who gets "The App"?
Sean McNamara. 46-year-old married man
Sean took his time driving home from work. It had been a long day and he just wanted to get home, settle into his place on the couch and lose himself in some mindless videos or perhaps some Minecraft. As he approached the next stoplight, Sean looked into the rearview mirror. His blue eyes shone back at him with the weariness of a man who was not living his best life. He knew without a shadow of a doubt that he was meant for bigger and better things. His job, while it did pay the bills, did not fulfill him. What he really wanted to do was write. Perhaps a book first, or maybe a screenplay. All he wanted to do was see something that began in his imagination come to life. However, his life had not turned out that way.
The honk of the horn from the car behind him startled him out of his reverie and he waved in apology before pulling back into the flow of traffic and continuing his journey home.
When he arrived to the modest townhome he rented with his wife, Jessica, Sean backed his car into the parking space closest to his front door and shut the car off. He took his badge off his belt loop and put it in the center console before closing it and hopping out of his aged and rusty sedan. As he walked to his front door, the six-foot tall man felt his knees ache along with his ankles and lower back. He arched his back to stretch out the muscles there and sighed in frustration as he failed to feel the *pop* that would signify he'd cracked the misaligned parts of his body. With each step, Sean could feel his weight shifting around. He wasn't morbidly obese anymore, but the affects his weight had on his body were apparent, if to himself if no one else. In his pocket, Sean's phone buzzed softly.
Walking into his home, Sean smiled a bright genuine smile when he saw his wife.
She was younger than him by just shy of a decade. At 37, she still looked as beautiful as the day he'd met her. With a short pixie cut, her punky pink hair told the tale of a woman who wanted to hold onto her youth with everything she had. It was more than that. Jessica McNamara wanted to let her own personality shine through her hair and clothes. She stood about six inches shorter than her husband, with a curvy body that showed her age, but belied the sexiness Sean saw in her every single day. Her blue eyes matched his except for a small bit of gold that flecked through the outer edges of her irises. When she saw him, her smile beamed across the room and she came over to give him a big hug and a soft kiss on the lips. Sean's phone buzzed, but he ignored it since hugging his wife was more important than any messages from family or friends.
"Welcome home, Mr. McNamara." Her voice was happy and the smile on her face reflected in her eyes. "Dinner's almost ready. Why don't you go clean out your lunch box and get into something comfortable while I set the table. OK?"
Sean nodded and did as she'd suggested. He put the ice packs from his lunch box in the freezer and wiped out the condensation that had pooled at the bottom before setting it upside down in the drying rack. He climbed the stairs, his old knees cracking with every step. By the time he got upstairs he was winded and losing energy by the moment. After sliding into some gym shorts and a comfortable t-shirt, the tall, bulky man walked back downstairs to see his wife sitting in a chair holding her head. His phone buzzed again, a different patter this time.
Jessica had a few more serious health problems than Sean had to deal with. She was prone to terrible headaches and nerve pain thanks to a relentless chronic pain disorder. It hadn't been identified yet, but brain scans revealed no tumors, and no other forms of cancer. It baffled her doctors and was the main reason for the flow of money from their accounts. Sean went to get her an ice pack and then served dinner to them both. While the dim lighting could have meant a romantic evening in, it was really a sign that Jessica's migraine was going to rule their night.
An hour later, with dinner done and Jessica upstairs sleeping her headache off, Sean finally got to check in on the messages he'd gotten. He opened his phone and was met with a white screen. The familiar icon of a small, spiral, blue notepad centered itself on the screen with the words, "Tap Here!" written just below the icon.
What does Sean do?
