Chapter 32 by quiboune quiboune

Where do you go to?

Scout the fortress then go to a tavern.

You and Liz find the other two standing close to the inn. You're the newest member of the team - both in age and in membership - but they see you as a leader because of the last few days.

Torr approaches you asking "So, are you headed there? Jen told me they won't let me in the fortress"

"I said probably. They probably won't"

"Yeah, then you said it had a ninenty nine dot nine nine nine nine nine percent chance of that being true. I just wanna know where you're headed to so I can stretch for fighting or find a nice tavern to pass the time"

We're going to the fortress but you can come too. We're scouting. And then we'll go to a tavern

"Why are we scouting? Weren't you two called?"

Do you think they will let a man approach their most sacred thing just because he says 'Amari called'? And I want you in there, we could use some muscles You say, as if you needed.

"You have a point. Well, scouting is my specialty. Let's go"

The four of you walk through the streets of Tevan admiring the view. It's quite a large city with many beautifully crafted structures that seem to be ancient. You can also see all kinds of people here, but the most common appearance is, like Jen: white skin, blonde hair, light eyes, heavy breasts and big ass. Most people are women as well, a lot of them being part of the sisterhood.

When you approach the fortress you notice a redheaded woman returning angrily from there. She's too pissed to notice Liz on her way and they end up bumping eachother hard. While Liz only manages to release a weak "oof" while almost falling to the ground, the woman turns around and says

"Oh, I'm sorry. Did I hurt you?"

Jen hugs Liz, checking if she's fine "It's ok, she will survive. You're coming from the fortress?"

"Yeah, they didn't let me in. I've been researching all the major religious groups for the last few months, and now that I'm here and I paid the inn for two days in advance they won't let me in the fortress"

Jen is suddenly interested "Oh, and why is that? They've always allowed women in and done everything to help researchers learn more about Amari"

"I know, right? I heard the same bullshit story! They've locked themselves in and won't let anyone that isn't a priestess even peek in there, saying that 'some danger is headed this way', that 'it's Amari's will', I mean- urgh..." she stops complaining for a moment and calms down before going on "They won't let you girls in as well so I wouldn't bother. Also, don't try sneaking in. There are five times more guards than the normal, I checked. Now, I have to go and try to get my money back from the inn" she says before turning her back and leaving.

A few streets later you finally reach the fortress. Its a really dark castle made of black stone built into the mountain. The whole castle is surrounded by a tall wall, made of that same stone, with almost 30 feet. You can't see any way of going into the building that isn't the main door or the two balconies on the front. You send Torr out so he can have a discreet look around and look for anything.

While he's out, you conjure a Scouting Grass, a small elemental that you can use as remote eye. The summon manages to sneak into the fortress unseen and runs around. The special thing about the Scouting Grass, a skill you created during one of the nights travelling, is its ability to divide itself in smaller pieces and take more paths simultaneously. After a few minutes Torr returns, but you already have a map of the entire place.

"I saw nothing easy, but there's a gate on the side that they probably use to make deliveries. I could hear flowing water on the other side too, so they could have some plumbing we could take advantage of but it would be dirty. I couldn't see much beyond this, but that girl was right. They're full of guards in there, it will be crowded. I'm more than sure we would never make it in by ****" he says, wrongly.

That will have to do. I'd send Jen in there to scout but my plan needs a certain flow

"Will you tell us your plan?" he asks, curious.

No. Not all of it, at least. You'll have to trust me on this one. Let's go to a tavern and I'll tell you some of the details He's not really pleased, but his obedience will do.

Near the fortress you find a nice looking tavern. It's appearance is very similar to any other tavern, with wooden walls and roof, windows bright from the illumination inside, smell of mead and merry chanting. After entering the tavern the air changes so much you could believe you're anywhere in the world. You find a seat in a table in the corner, near two witches on the neighbor table. The four of you sit there, and, after Liz and Torr ask for mugs of mead, you wonder...

...now what?
