Saying Goodbye to Rachel and Heading Into Town To Pick Up Somethings For Kea

"... and you're sure you don't mind?"

Dave smiled and nodded. They were seeing Rachel off as she concluded her visit and walked her out to her car along with a box of fresh eggs and some berries. "It's fine! Honest. Please take some home with you. We're heading out too. Need to pick somethings up for Kea."

Kea grinned. She was nervous about going into town but together with Dave she felt sure everything would be fine. "Kea thank Raychel," she said giving her a hug. "Raychel be safe!" She grabbed Dave's hand and he nodded and hugged them both.

Rachel smiled and hugged them back after a moment of surprise. She didn't often get this kind of treatment in her job but, technically, she'd concluded the official part of her visit hours ago. These were friends whowerejust wishing her well. "Thanks you two! I will and you be safe too! Oh just a sec!" She reached in her car for something pulling out a flyer. "As you well know not all reactions to the otherworlders is positive. Not sure about all the way out here but these are some businesses that are known to be friendly and easy to deal with. Some even employ otherworlders on staff. There's a great Cafe, a shop that does customized remodeling and these folks do renovations and custom work, etcetera. I know it's not much-"

Dave took the list, smiling. "Not at all! Thanks for this, Ray. It's good to have if we ever need it. If we're ever that way, we'll be sure to check them out. Drive safe and we'll see you soon."

Rachel smiled pulling out some sunglasses and slipped them on and she climbed into her car and started it up. "See you soon!" She said waving as they waved back watching her drive off.

Kea looked at Dave nervous but excited. "D'hayv-Kea go too?"

Dave nodded pulling out his keys to the truck. "Yup! Kea-Dave go too. Sooner begun, sooner done. Right?"

Kea slowly smirked and nodded. "Yes! D'hayv-Kea cum home bed lay-ter!"

Dave chuckled at her. "I thought you'd say that. Let's go!" Though he did eye her sexy attire. The short, green bombshell might get overlooked occasionally but was definitely not going to go unnoticed... And he was completely fine with that but he knew how shy she could be around strangers. "Kea want clothes?" He asked opening the passenger side door for her and then helping her in.

She looked up at him, tilted her head quizzically and plucked at the tied off shirt she was wearing jiggling her breasts. "Kea have clothes. No good? Or maybe..." she grinned up at him suggestively, "Dave want Kea no clothes?"

"Ye- er, No!" Dave said quickly and she grinned. He realized she was teasing him and he'd played right into her hand. He cleared his throat and tried again. "*Ahem* Kea want new clothes?"

Kea forgot all about teasing him now. He was offering to get her a new wardrobe while they were out! It was an interesting prospect. In her old world Kea had worn pretty much the same thing with minimal variation in sets of clothing. But she knew from going out into the world that this wasn't so for other species... or even for city goblins. The luxury of having several outfits to choose from was something that many women enjoyed. More so it was something that excited most of the women coming here from her world. Here there was a great variety of clothing to not only choose from in a huge variety of styles and fine cloths that would be impossible to weave back home but a strange group of nebulous idea spirits called "Fah-shoon". Apparently it came in a lot of variety that one could capture and "aquire" by studying hiw to attract them, then equipping different types of clothing. Some studied and pursued these muse spirits tirelessly trying to attract and aquire many while others simply caught one and were done. She liked the clothes he'd given her to do as she pleased with but he was very sweet to offer her more! She wouldn't mind trying aquiring her own "fah-shoon", it looked like fun! But...

D'Hayv was always thinking of her and far too generous! He'd already given her so much! She leaned out of the truck and hugged him. "D'Hayv too good Kea! Kea no need clothes. Kea only want D'Hayv happy!"

He smiled and stroked her hair as he hugged her back. "Dave happy when Kea happy," he told her. "Clothes make Kea happy?"

She nodded but said, "D'Hayv make Kea happy!"

He kissed the top of her head. "Dave happy too." He smiled letting go of her to close the door and come around quickly to climb in the driver's side of the truck and start it up. "Let's go shopping then."

The drive into town was pleasant enough. The same old familiar scenery rolling by seemed different with Kea as she excitedly peered out of the windows, pointing out things that caught her interest and asking questions. He pointed out the neighboring farms, local points of interest and then businesses as they got closer to town.

"Wot this?" She asked as they pulled into the parking lot of their first stop, Vickers Hardware and Supplies.

Dave smiled. "A friend's business. Nice folks," he said. "Come on let's go say "Howdy"."

He helped her out of the truck and then held her hand giving it a comforting squeeze as they made their way towards the front door of the big business. Luckily the place didn't appear to be particularly busy at the moment as they were between the morning and afternoon rush. Dave held the door for an elderly man with a cane on his way out. The older man narrowed his eyes looking hard first at him, then Kea before back to him again, frowning.

Kea started to hide behind Dave from the mean looking man but Dave smiled as the man said, "Stark. Thought you had a son?"

Dave shook his head. "That's me, Mr Fisher. You're thinking of my father, Sir."

Mr Fisher frowned deeper pulling out a pair of glasses with extra thick lenses and blinked. He didn't look mean at all anymore to Kea as they gave him an owlish look. "Blast! Getting so I can't see a thing without these darn things!" He smiled widely a gap-tooth grin and chuckled. "I remember now! You're the kid who painted my house last summer. You're getting to look just like your father!"

Dave smiled and nodded though he didn't correct Mr Fisher that the "last summer" he was thinking about was well over 30 years ago. "Yessir, Mr. Fisher. This is Kea. Kea this is Mr Fisher."

"H-Hello, Mistah Fischer," Kea said a bit less nervous than before.

The old man smiled at her. "Pleased to meetcha, Kea," Mr. Fisher said smiling. He glanced at Dave. "She alright? Lookin' a bit green."

Dave nodded. "She is green."

Mister Fisher blinked and adjusted his glasses before nodding and smiling. "Oh! So she is! Must be some new fad. That's alright then. You still in the boyscouts and going in the service? Stop by sometime and I'll give you cookies and tell you stories about the old days, again."

Dave smiled at memories of long ago. "That's a kind offer. I already joined the Army but now I'm home."

"Oh!" Said Mr Fisher smiling at the two of them and shaking their hands. "I see! Welcome home then! Well y'all have better things to do then talk with an old man." He turned to Kea, giving her a wink. "You stick close by this'n! He's a good'un!"

Kea grinned and nodded. "Kea will!"

Mr Fisher revealed a gap-tooth and waved. "Y'all take care!" Dave chuckled as he heard the old man chuckle as he walked away, talking to himself. "Guess we finally did it! Lil' green Martian women jest like in th' movies! 'Bout time! Ah to be young again! Heheh!"

Kea smiled and waved. "Nice hooman."

Dave smiled and waved too. "Yup." He didn't feel the need to correct him at the moment as it'd probably take some time. He opened the door for Kea. "Come on. You'll probably meet some more here."

The interior of the store held a large variety of different things. Tools and building materials filled one side while the other was mostly dedicated to farming supplies with various animal feeds and husbandry items and seeds for planting. The front had a variety of different items from work clothes to recreational outdoors gear. A large, bored looking young man looked up slowly. "Hello and welcome to Vickers. Be with you in a mo... OOOHHH!!!" he trailed off, then made a loud surprised sound as he charged their way startling Kea.

But the young man didn't even notice her as he charged Dave and gave him a hug. "Uncle Dave!"

Dave hugged him back. "Howdy Dan! Oof! You're getting big kiddo! Keep growing like this and you'll be bigger than your dad! Can't rightly call you my "little" buddy anymore!" He smiled and let go of him. "You helping out around the store now?"

Dan nodded. "Yeah. Dad said it was time."

Dave smiled at him. "Good for you. Proud of you, buddy. So I got someone I want to introduce you to. Kea this is Dan, my friends son. Dan this is Kea, she-"

"Whoooaaa!" Dan said grinning. "You got a monster girl! So cool!" He wipped his hand on his shop apron before he stuck it out, offering his hand in greeting. "Nice to meetcha, Kea."

Kea smiled shyly at the young man's broad, honest face and hesitantly took his hand. The big hooman's grasp was surprisingly gentle when he shook her hand with a shy, self-conscious smile himself. It put her at ease. "Hello. Kea nice to meat Dan, thanks!"

Dan blinked but grinned and so did she. "So what can I help you with?"

Dave nodded. "Well Kea's come to live with me-"

"Awesome!" Dan said still grinning.

Dave nodded. "Yup. It is that. But but it's kinda sudden like and not something we prepped for at all. So I was wondering if y'all had some boots in her size cause she'll need them and I'd like to pick up somethings that might help her out and be useful in her getting settled and comfortable?"

"Like what?" "Like wot?" Kea and Dan said together and that drew chuckles from the two of them. It made Dave happy to see. Dan had developmental and learning difficulties as a child and was always head and shoulders above his peers size wise which had made growing up difficult for him. But he was a sweet and gentle kid- *Nope,* he corrected himself. *I can't rightly call him that anymore.* Dan was a sweet and gentle young man and he'd always tried to be a friend to him.

"Well I got some step stools at the house but I was thinking about a small step ladder for her incase she needed to reach up high," he explained. "There's some old ones in the shed and the barn but a nice new one for in the house might be for the best."

Daniel nodded as he followed that train of thought and added, "Sure, we got those. Maybe some seat cushions for the truck too? We got some for my little Sister. They're over that away." Dan said pointing.

Dave smiled and nodded. "Perfect! You read my mind. We'll take one of those and two of the stepladdders. One for the upstairs and the other can go in the pantry. Can you grab those for me while I help her pick out a good pair of boots?"

Dan gave him a thumbs-up. "You got it!" He looked at Kea's feet. "I'd suggest looking at the kids sizes. Probably the right fit and they're on sale now." He started walking away to get those items saying, "Goblins are so kewl!"

Dave took Kea's hand and led her towards the boots and she asked, "Wot "kewl"? Good?"

Dave chuckled and nodded. "Yes. "Cool" is a bit like "good" and "awesome" is like "wow."

Kea nodded happily and said to herself. "Kewl... Ah-some!"

They had fun picking out a couple pairs of boots for Kea and a few other things too including a straw hat and some sunglasses. There were even some overalls that were just barely in her size. "Kewl?" Kea asked.

"Awesome!" Dan assured her giving her a thumbs-up which she returned with a grin. Dave nodded and had to agree. It was a good look for Kea! And seeing her and Dan getting along so well made him hopeful for the rest of their shopping trip. "Hey, Dan. Good call on this stuff, bud. You know anywhere that sells women's clothing in town?" He asked as Dan rang up their purchases and helped them carry stuff out to the truck. "You know. Something... I dunno, fashionable?"

Dan paused thinking then slowly nodded. "There's a place that opened up on Main Street. You go just a little past the pizza place and it's on the otherside of the road, I think." He shrugged. "Fancy stuff, I think. Mom goes there sometimes but she says it's a bit too expensive. She likes another one further down on the otherside of town that does old-timey stuff she says is "retro" or whatever." He shrugged. "Can't remember their names. Hey you gonna come visit us sometime? I wanna show you my new videogame! Mass Craft 7: Special Edition!"

Dave chuckled and nodded. Daniel was always excited to talk about and show off his video games and Dave always tried to show interest and follow along with whatever the kids were into. "Yeah. Count on it, Amigo! We'll come visit sometime soon, sound good?"

"Ah-sum!" Kea said grinning.

"Awesome!" Dan repeated also grinning.
