What's next?
Sarah practices
"Well? Did you make the wish?" Sarah prodded.
For a moment, Tom thought that the wish didn't work. But then he felt the warmth emanating from his palm and knew it had to had went through. He nodded. The command lingered in his head, calling out to him to be used. But part of him felt apprehensive, that he would lose his wife to a daughter he knew nothing about. He glanced at his wife and saw how much she was excited to become his daughter, and he sighed internally.
"So then what're you waiting for?" She extended her arms out, inviting him to experiment with her.
"Sarah, go to sleep," Tom said.
Sarah was about to say something, but stopped. She got a distant look in her eyes and swayed on the couch. A moment of silence. She whipped her head left at the clock and her jaw fell open in shock.
"Dad, come on lets go! We're gonna be late!" she exclaimed. Her voice was almost an octave higher, and Tom felt a bit of immaturity coming off from her. Inexperienced. Expedient. Buoyant. By the time Tom rose from the couch, she was already unlocking the front door.
The car started with a deep growl, and the headlights reflected deep yellow light window into the hallway. Tom's brain flashed with recognition. Could this be? He ran outside with almost the same urgency as his daughterized wife. There on his driveway sat the car of his dreams, a yellow Datsun 240Z. It was almost as sleek as in the photos he hung on his wall. A long car, it resembled more of a flattened book than a vehicle. Purple evening light glistened off the top, making his car seem even more fantastical than it was. And his daughter was behind the steering wheel. She smiled at him and beckoned him to get in.
"So," Natalie grinned, "can I drive this time?"

The rec center was only a few miles away from where they lived, but apparently the Tom in this universe always insisted on driving this car around, to his wife's dismay. Of course, he learned his information because Natalie just couldn't stop talking, which Tom was thankful for. He needed to learn discretely.
"I love you, Dad," Natalie said.
"I love you too sweetie, take care."
She waved a goodbye and disappeared around the corner, leaving Tom alone in the passenger seat, parked on the side of the road.
Where does Tom go?
