Chapter 28

Sarah POV VS Kylie

The snow glistened on the rooftop, the silence broken only by the distant sounds of battle.

"Kylie," I said softly, taking a step towards her. "I don’t want to hurt you."

Her eyes, once so full of life and warmth, were now cold and empty. She moved with a mechanical precision that sent chills down my spine. "I must obey Daddy," she replied, her voice devoid of emotion.

My heart ached at her words. "This isn’t you," I said, my voice firm. "You are a smart, strong and beautiful woman. So snap out of it already."

She raised her hands, and the air crackled with magic. Sharp, deadly icicles formed above her, suspended in mid-air. With a flick of her wrist, she sent them hurtling towards me. I summoned the power of the earth beneath us. Roots twisted and grew, forming a protective barrier around me. The icicles shattered against the barrier, but I could feel the **** of her attack.

I weaved, using the roots to shield myself as best I could. Each attack came closer than the other, the air around us grew colder with each passing moment."I know you’re still in there, Kylie," I called out. "Don’t let him control you!"

For a moment, I thought I saw a flicker of recognition in her eyes, but it was quickly replaced by the cold, empty stare. She moved with fluid precision, leaping onto the roots and using them as stepping stones to launch herself into the air. Mid-jump, she sent another barrage of icicles towards me, the sharp projectiles glinting in the moonlight.

As I struggled to keep up with her relentless attacks, memories flooded my mind. I remembered taking care of Kylie when she was a baby, holding her close and breastfeeding her. John was so happy to be a big brother, he would tap her back while she laid on my shoulders to help her burp. I remembered the countless nights spent soothing her cries, the warmth of her tiny body nestled against mine. I had always protected her, always cared for her. My heart ached with the memory of those tender moments, and I felt tears well up in my eyes.

But now, she was beating me, her attacks growing fiercer with each passing moment. I stumbled, the roots barely able to keep up with the **** of her blows.

The anger burned brighter within me. How dare Dracula do this to her? How dare he take my sweet Kylie and turn her into this?

"Why are you accepting this, Kylie?" I said firmly, stepping closer. "You just need a good spanking from mommy to knock some sense back into you. So I’ll do it and make you remember who you are!"

Her expression hardened, and she let out a scream of pure rage but tears also leaked onto her face.

The ice around us exploded, the **** of the blast sending me tumbling backward. I hit the ground hard, the wind knocked out of me. Gasping for breath, I struggled to my feet, my body aching from the impact.

Desperation and anger clawed at my heart. I couldn’t lose her to Dracula’s control. Summoning the last of my strength, I pushed forward, the roots responding to my will. They surged towards her, wrapping around her arms and legs, binding her tightly.

"I won’t give up on you," I said, my voice filled with determination and a fierce will to set things right. "You’re stronger than this, Kylie. Fight him!"

She struggled against the roots, her face contorted with effort.

Then, with a **** resolve, I pulled her into an embrace, wrapping both of us in roots creating a cocoon-like barrier. I held her tightly, trying to convey all the love and care I had for her. Trying warm up her chest with mine. "You are my daughter," I said softly, tears streaming down my face. "I love you, whatever you do, whatever you become, you’ll always be my baby and I’ll always love you unconditionally."

She fought back, her body radiating intense cold. The chill was unlike anything I had ever felt, seeping through my skin and chilling me to the bone. My breath turned to frost, and my muscles ached with the biting cold. "You can fight this, Kylie," I whispered, my voice trembling. "I believe in you."

As I held her, flowers began to bloom on the roots, their petals unfurling and releasing a familiar, soothing scent. It was the same fragrance from the flowers I used to grow in our home when Kylie and John were little. The sweet, calming aroma filled the air.

Her eyes widened, a flicker of recognition breaking through the cold emptiness. Tears welled up in her eyes, and she began to sob, the sound heartbreaking and raw. The roots loosened their hold as her resistance crumbled, and she collapsed into my arms, her body shaking with sobs.

"Mommy," she cried, her voice breaking.

"I’m here sweetheart," I said softly, holding her tightly. "You’re safe now."

The ice she had formed around us melted into water and drenched us both. Our legs entangled as we embraced each other. The roots released their hold, and I held her tightly, our cheeks were glued against each other while she cried her heart out, my own tears mingling with hers. "I was so scared mom, I was so lonely."

As she sobbed in my arms, I knew the fight was far from over. I directed her eyes to mine. My girl was so beautiful, "Let’s go, your brother needs us."
