Same as she remembered

There he was, the ex, dressed in a navy suit and a white shirt. Though it had been at least 5 years since she had seen him last not much had changed. Liam had a lean angular face, smooth shaven giving him a boyish air. A smirking smile belied a confidence that was totally unwarrented. His brown hair was cut short with a fade.

Emma took a moment before she answered. "Hey fancy seeing you here, they will let anyone in" she laughed.

Liam laughed too. "Yeah I am doing my part to talk some sense into Mark incase he gets cold feet". Awkwardly they hugged, it seemed a strange moment as last time they had been in the same room it had been a blazing row.

"Mark is super lucky, Carrie will keep him in line. Anyway its been forever Liam! How are you? Tell me about your life" she said, half polite, but also curious to know. He grinned and gestured to a space off the bar, they both took their drinks and stood, while in the gap at the bar was quickly filled.

"I am doing pretty good thanks, it has been a busy few years. I got my qualifications and have started my own roofing company. It is just me and 4 guys I have hired but its going really well." Liam stated then took a sip from his lager "LH Roofing" he was clearly proud, Emma smiled she was pleased for him.

"That's great, Not many 26 year olds can boast they own their own company" she said, offering him a clink of her glass "Myself I work as a research assistant for a pharma company. It's evil but pays well. Plus my boyfriend works there too" she added, keen to get it said soon.

He nodded "Ethics don't matter too much if you can afford nice things" he chickled, clinking her glass in return. "Plus being near to your man is a bonus. Is he with you this weekend? Will I meet him?"

She sighed and relayed to him that Tom had to work this weekend. Liam gave her a sympathetic look."Ah well, gives you a chance to catch up with everyone!"

"Yeah I have decided to just enjoy the weekend, I wanted to be here for Carrie. Can't believe she is the first of us to get married" Emma said, she saw a look cross Liam's face "What?"

He looked around, before leaning in closer " That is not exactly true... you see.." her eyes shot open in surprise.
