Running Regrets

Sally sent him a soft smile, slightly exposing her pearly white teeth, the kind of smile that comes back in your most pleasant dreams. He responded in a his own way, by raising slightly the corners of his lips. The Lamia recognized it as one of those rare moments when words were unnecessary. Here was a man, right in front of her, whom she liked. And he liked her. Why not have some fun, why not go forward even for a small dip into this game between two individuals. Why delay the inevitable. The random lady, earlier in the day, said that they look like a cute couple, so why not try it. Of course, in the old world, such coupling would be unthinkable, a person of her status and power couldn't possibly have any ordinary partner. But Sally fled that world, that life to be here, in the cities and amongst the people she dreamt about ever since she was a child.

Their bodies were already extremely close, so it was only natural for them to get close again. In her head, it was time to act.

She bent her head a little and was getting closer to his head, lips approaching lips, the foreheads almost touching themselves...

"I should get dressed."

He said, and quickly started to rise, before grabbing his own shirt, and pants.

"I'll order a new tub, something bigger this time."

Andreas added and left the bathroom.

She lied on the ground there, realising she completely misread the situation. She clenched her fist in anger and punched the floor, the pain returned some sense into her brain.

He clearly wasn't interested in her. But why? She didn't look displeasing for him, he clearly was interested in her front assets, and they often looked at each other when speaking. Maybe he was scared of her abilities?

Or maybe it wasn't the right moment after all, she thought. Or maybe she was too pushy with what she wanted, maybe she should've asked...

Either way, embarrassed about the ordeal, she wiped the water from her body, put on her own clothes again and went downstairs, to bury herself in her phone and try not to thinking about what could've and should've happened.

Andreas went instantly into his room, and grabbed a towel there. His pants and shirt were drenched, so - after making sure the doors were locked - he removed them. He approached his desk and took out his box of painkillers. The pain in his leg was coming back and hitting harder than before.

Naked, and not being able to focus on anything else, he sat on the bed.

Andreas had several big thoughts in his head. The event of last hour kept coming back to him like a well thrown boomerang. First, he was shown that magic exists, then the extremely awkward bath with her slipping and falling on him... He bit his lip, remembering the feeling. He liked her warmth, her scales and skin. He liked to be this close to someone again, even though it wasn't a real thing, considering the circumstances. He liked her, she was the kind of weird woman that he enjoyed as a company.

Then why did he back away?

The regret kept circling in his head, the moment where he could give her the smallest bit of intimate affection, a kiss, a promise of things to come.

Andreas ruined it by leaving.

In that moment, he had no idea how they will move forward, he was questioning his own standards. After all, they knew each other for a little more than a day, he knew nothing about her and her past. Sure, they had a rather bonding day, but that was only a day.

He thought he had reasons to just walk away, for a slightest moment of uncertainty he felt justified to just get up and leave, and that was enough.

He covered his face in his hands. The regret was rising again. He knew he should've explain that it's not the time yet, that they need to get to know each other better first, that he still has some unfinished business with Lisa.

"I should've asked for more time."

He blankly said into the void of a posters filled wall.

Andreas Voigt blew it, and at that moment he thought that she won't ever give him a second chance.

"Or I should've just fucking kissed her."
