Chapter 6 by Joseph Nantz Joseph Nantz

What's next?

Ruby takes a shower and thinks

Ruby stepped out of her room and walked across the hall to the shower. Falling in a puddle isn't fun, and she wanted to see if she could wash the ick of the day's events out of her mind.

But as she got in and started scrubbing, all she could do was think back on the events of the past few years. Today was not by a long shot anyone had seen anything like that from her. She had always been clumsy, but a few years back it had started to get worse with all the accidental indecent exposure. She'd lost a number of friends over the years as they'd accused her of being an attention whore... or even just a whore.

But recently, things were just getting worse and worse. Both in terms of normal bad luck and the stripping kind.

At the start of the month, she'd gone on a show with Davina McCall. Looking back, maybe it was a bad idea for someone as uniquely unlucky as Ruby Sunday to go on a TV show, but it wasn't a live show, and plus nothing even happened! Well, not in terms of showing off her intimate body parts, but there was an incident where a light had fallen over and almost killed her. And all because she wanted to do a TV show to find out who her birthparents were.

A few days ago, she'd been at the club and talked to a man. A very strange man, he was. She told him that he belonged to the gin & tonic division of health and safety, which she was fairly certain wasn't a real thing but she kept forgetting to google. He had flashed her an ID card, but she didn't get to look at it very well. It certainly wasn't the worst thing a weird guy in a club had flashed her and- reddening not just from the heat of the water- Ruby realised it wasn't the worst thing she had flashed in a club, either.

The strange man had told her that her bad luck was worse than just bad luck, and she really had no idea how to take that. Worse than bad luck? She was pretty sure that was true, but she was sure she'd never seen this man before, so how could he know that? Unless he was some sort of stalker. Ruby thought it would probably make sense if she had stalkers, since they'd never know when they'd get to see something, but the thought certainly didn't make her happy.

But she didn't have time to talk to the weird-not-a-flasher-hopefully-not-a-stalker-devilishly-handsome-but-not-really-her-type man in the club, since after a jolly "Merry Christmas", he practically vanished in front of her eyes.

Later that night, her panties ripped when she tried to pull them up in the bathroom, which she thought was highly unlikely, but she hurried home all the same.

And then last night, the damnedest thing had happened. She had been laughing with her bandmates in a cab, and just after leaving an intersection, she heard a crashing sound behind her. She turned and saw a giant snowman head in the middle of the road! The cab turned a corner before she could get her friends to look, but she was sure that it was seconds away from having fallen right on her.

As Ruby exited the shower, she made sure to wrap the towel around herself extra tight. There was no one home except her gran, and it was only a few steps to Ruby's room, but ever since her towel fell off while mum had a man friend over, she decided she couldn't be too careful.

Closing the door behind her securely, Ruby entered her room, dropped her towel, and walked over to her dresser. She picked out a nice pair of red panties and pulled them on, followed by a brown skirt which reached almost to her knees. But then she opened her bra drawer and was shocked to discover it was completely empty.

That wasn't possible! She'd done laundry 3 days ago, and there hadn't been THAT many bras which had broken since she last went shopping. She dug through her dirty clothes basket and started to worry that she couldn't find any, but decided to chalk it up to being the unluckiest girl on the planet when it came to dress sense.

Ruby decided her best option was a grey pullover hoodie, the type of clothing to mask her body type and make it harder to tell she didn't have a bra on. She dreaded the coming days, though. Today was the 24th of December, so there was no chance of going out for a bra tomorrow.

Lastly, she pulled on some thick woolen socks to keep her feet warm for the holiday.

Right as she finished, she heard a noise at the door and went to see...
