Chapter 18 by Squiddog

Rovni's departure

Rovni returns to her home

The sun licked them morning sky, sending rays of orange throughout the sky, Rovni had woken just before first light and with the help of a few goblins, strapped two horses to a cart they had stolen and loaded it with their wealth.

by the time the cart was ready to depart her whole horde had assembled to see their chieftess off, "So my horde, your chieftess will be gone for around a week or a little longer, upon my return I expect your training to be showing and another thing, Vera is going to be staying with us from now on, she needs a larger hut, make on a house for larger horde members we may have in the future, otherwise continue as you are and maintain the camp and watch the whores closely, they will try an escape eventually." Rovni ordered from atop the cart to her gathered horde.

With a few final words of farewell Rovni ordered the horses onward and was soon pulling out of the glade into the sparse woodlands, her fathers settlement was some distance, well into the northern reaches of the region.

The days were quiet and the roads dead, passing the raided farm near the end of the first day of travel Rovni saw in the distance the bodies were gone, someone had found the aftermath of her raid, word had most likely spread hence the untraveled road.

Rovni passed into the second day of travel and passed by several towns and settlements, farms and what were little hamlets turning into villages, easy prey of a more equipped raiding ****.

Passing into the third day of travel Rovni saw the first signs of her clan, tribal markings in trees along the road, marking their territory, the familiar marks gave Rovni an odd sense of homecoming.

It was into the evening of the third day that Rovni saw her home in the distance, a large stone hill fort that towered over the surrounding woodlands and plains for as far as the eye could see, sending a clear message as to who ruled here.

Pulling the cart to the gates Rovni was met by an orc marching ahead of several others before the shut gates to her home.

"What business do you have in Orthenk woman?" The larger, dark green orc growled, clearly trying to scare her.

"Call me woman again and I will drink from your skull welp~" Rovni growled, leaning down slightly off her cart to meet the orcs gaze.

A tense moment passed before a look of realization overtook the pure orcs face, "Rovni?" At her nod the orc took a step back and hurried quickly to the gate, "Open the gate! It's Rovni, she's back."

The other orcs pulled the gates open and Rovni led the cart full of loot forward, pleased she still garnered such respect, as she passed by numerous houses and purposed buildings Rovni stopped her cart at the front of a familiar hall, massive compared to her own, more like a small stone castle.

Several orcs started to gather and make a commotion at the front, and Rovni heard her name pass by several lips but none came forward, as Rovni was hopping off the cart the doors of the hall and an extremely dark green orc woman with a mane of dark red hair, who stood more than a foot taller than Rovni, clad in thick, scaled armor came forward, pushing past a few other orcs, "What's the commotion abo~, Rovni?" The massive orc woman asked almost disbelievingly.

"Aunt Frine, it has been a while." Rovni replied with a grin, it was good to be home.

How does Rovni's return to her home go?
