Round 2 With The Lich

I feel the Annihilation Energy flow through my veins. It starts on my hands, which are holding the sword, and continues to the rest of me. It flows to my shoulders, then my chest, down to my legs, and my head. Everywhere it reaches feels light. I look down and see the dark grey energy under my skin. I look back to see the Lich looking at me a little shocked. He's still rushing me, but he seems to be moving slower. I rush forward and see his face turn to surprise. He swings his arms down at me. I swing my blade through his torso and cut him in half.

I jump back, expecting the fog to seep out, but nothing happens.

"What is that weapon!?" The Lich shouts out. his body grows small tentacle-like appendages where I cut him. They grab onto each other and pull, pulling his body back together.

"Why should I tell you? You'll be dead soon anyway." I say and he roars in anger. I cast Annihilating Strike and rush him. I cut his arms off as I jump above him.

I look down and see him look back up at me. I land on him, impaling my blade into his shoulder. I aimed for his head but missed it since it was so small.

He roars in pain and I jump back. I see his wounds close and Observe him. I smile when I see he's on 39,265 HP. He can't heal from this sword's attacks. Is that because it does Annihilation damage? Is that also why the fog isn't coming out? It's probably an auto-activating spell that heals and defends him. But my sword destroys it when I attack. I think with a smile. I see Innu and the others watching in shock. I can see Luna trying to run, but Asami's Wolf has her wrapped in its tails. I laugh lightly seeing this and piss off the Lich even more. He roars before rushing me again. I rush him back and swing my blade. He jumps, using his wings to go in the air. I smile when I see him fleeing. I send Barai and Eimbis an order and see him get pelted by flaming rocks again.

He crashes to the ground again creating a crater in the sand. I see his wounds leak the fog again healing the damage EImbis and Barai did. I rush him and bring my blade down on his wings. It falls off and tries to connect the tentacles but can't. It's too far and the tentacles turn to blood.

"Hurts doesn't it? Our wings are a lot more sensitive than you'd expect." I say before cutting his legs off.

He's able to reattach his legs and I Observe him again. I see he's down to 2,285 HP. One more attack will finish this. I think before raising my blade.

"Any last words Miles?" I ask and he freezes.

"H-how do you..." He starts before coughing up an insane amount of blood.

"Does it matter how I know your name now?" I ask and he shakes his head.

"No, as for my final words... I won't say them today!" He shouts before thrusting his four spider legs at me. I sigh as I dodge them and cut them off.

Mythical Material Drop

I store the drop away as I climb out of the sand crater. I immediately get tackle/hugged by Luna.

"Hey, Luna." I say, petting her. She smiles and I see her tails wagging.

"Are you okay Eric?" Kallen asks me as he and the others catch up to Luna. I look down and see the energy under my veins and chuckle.

"Yes, don't worry. This is... how do I explain this?" I say before Kagiyama steps forward.

"You can tell us later. But if you're okay could you raise your sword." He asks and I tilt my head.

"For battles like this, where an entire guild or multiple guilds are involved. It's customary for the one who slays or captures the enemy leader to raise their weapon. It signals the end of the battle." My gramps explains and I nod. I raise my sword and hear a chorus of cheers from the group of Lyna.

"So what is that?" Asami asks while pointing to my sword. I lower it and close my eyes. I switch it back to its pole form and feel the power coursing through me dissipate. I open my eyes to see the sword is back in its pole form.

"It's a ne..." I start before feeling a pain deep in my chest. I keel over coughing and Luna catches me.

"Alpha!?" She says worriedly. I stop coughing before shaking it off and standing back up.

"I'm fine. Sorry, Luna." I say and she looks at me worried. The pain is still in my chest, but it's tolerable. It just came out of nowhere and caught me off guard.

"Don't push yourself, Eric. We have plenty of healers on standby." Sugano says and I smile.

"I'm fine, really. This sword just has a nasty backlash. This was my first time experiencing it, so I wasn't prepared." I say and she nods.

"What kind of backlash?" My gramps asks and I let out a laugh.

"Well, Observe told me that if I use it for fifteen minutes straight. It'd straight up kill me." I say and he goes wide-eyed. Luna jumps on me and I chuckle.

"Why does it kill you?" Asami asks worriedly.

"You saw my skin right? How it had those dark grey streaks?" I ask and she nods. "That was Annihilation Energy. This sword pumps it through my veins. I assume that's why." I reply and she looks at me more concerned.

"Why would you use it then? Wouldn't that just hurt you?" Innu asks and I shrug.

"That's just where the backlash comes from. But while I use it, it explosively increases my strength, speed, and magic damage. Not to mention the sword itself does four times as much damage as my Katana. And it destroys magic, that's why the Lich couldn't regenerate." I say and they look at me shocked.

"That's a hell of a trump card you got." My gramps says and I laugh. Before anyone can ask anything else, someone speaks up behind me.

"Excuse me, Sirs, Ma'ams! We're ready with the teleporter." They say and I turn around. I see a mage wearing a dark blue cape. Underneath he has on a set of leather armor. He has the Blue Locus Guild logo on his cape.

"Thank you. Is everything ready?" Kagiyama asks and the person nods. "Is everyone ready to go?" Kagiyama asks us them and us.

"Yes sir!" The man replies while we nod. We walk back to the camp with us in the lead. I see everything has been torn down. Everyone is standing in rows on the sides. They have backpacks on, but I can tell they've been Enchanted with Spatial magic. There's a large blue pad on the sand. It's covered in magic circles and glowing green.

"Eric, if you would." Kallen says while pushing me forward.

"Would what?" I ask and he points to the teleporter. I sigh, getting the message, and walk up to the teleporter. I step on it and the world around me changes.
