Chapter 5 by Gatsha Gatsha

What's next?

Robin decides to fight Lucina herself

“Chrom, I’ll handle Lucina,” Robin volunteered. If at all possible, she wanted to avoid this outcome: she knew Lucina was an incredibly skilled combatant, and her style was nothing like her father’s. Training with Chrom may not provide Robin with any edge against the noble’s daughter. That said, she didn’t trust her ally to be able to give his all against Lucina. “You handle the enemy tactician! If he really does wield my weapons, you’ll have an advantage in the fight due to our training.”

“I’ll trust you,” Chrom declared. He didn’t look pleased, but he’d do what he had to do.

Robin only hoped that would be enough. She faced Lucina, brandishing her Levin Sword. “Lucina, even if it’s really you, I’m not holding back. Prepare yourself!”

“Why would I hold back at all?” the off-color Lucina declared, entering a swordswoman’s stance. “When I win this fight, I’ll release my father from your foul influence!”

“’Influence?’” Robin repeated, raising an eyebrow. “Lucina, I don’t know what you think it is Chrom and I have been doing-“

“My father was killed in my world! He was killed by someone he considered a close friend,” the time traveler reminded Robin, advancing. “Who is more suspicious of being that traitorous scoundrel than an unknown woman who claims to be his strategist?!” The time for words was evidently over, as Lucina made her intentions clear with a flurry of blows.

Her **** was brutal. It was easy to write off her strikes as unfocused, since she didn’t seem to care where she hit the opponent. Robin, however, was talented enough to see how Lucina’s movements kept her perfectly spaced and constantly kept her out of reach of a counterattack.

It was all Robin could do to parry the blows with her floating sword, and she knew this was a losing posture. Her Levin Sword’s magic charge weakened each time it was used, and when it was depleted, she would no longer be able to control and wield it. If she ended up warding off this mad attack with her Bronze Sword she carried as backup, it’d be over quick. She needed some advantage she could use to break Lucina’s perfect blend of offense and defense…
