Taking a deep breath you push the door open and the sight before you isn’t what you expected, then again you honestly didn't know what to expect.
Sitting at a big round table is Commander Rixx and what surprises you is how different he looks. His golden helmet lays on the giant table as his greatsword is just a foot or two away leaning on the table within arms distance. As your eyes veer from the giant of a man, you also notice an older man who looks somewhat familiar. You pause briefly, just studying his body and that's when it hits you. You remember him from the party at Lady Karisi's house right before the journey to Nillix. If you remember correctly it was Lord Edmin, who is pretty much the brains behind the operation.
Finally noticing your presence, Lord Edmin greets you “Ah, sir Darien, thank you for joining us. We were just discussing your journey to Loner's Reach.”
Stepping up to the opposite side of the table and clearly still confused as to why they're putting you in charge you ask the obvious question. “Why are you putting me in charge? I have no clue why you're doing it but I’m a warrior, a fighter, I’m no leader.”
Edmin looks towards Rixx as the two of them just gaze at one another for a moment. Before long, that’s when you hear that deep voice, that voice that brings back all the memories, all the nightmares. “Darien, you are a strong warrior, but there is something that separates you from the rest, your will, determination and grit." be begins "Your passion for what you fight for is your greatest strength.” He pauses, watching your reaction "I’m impressed where you came from and I’m very interested in where you will go from here.”
Looking back at Edmin, he tells you the plan “Back to the problem at hand, Darien. As it stands we will be sending a detachment of soldiers, a mix of normal soldiers and elite soldiers with you to Loner's Reach.”
Your head goes back and forth, almost dancing between the two Rathkin superiors, "What is the mission and how am I suppose to do it?”
Lord Edmin starts "Your mission will be to figure out what happened to the men we sent to Loner's Reach and what happened to the person they were suppose to be meeting.” once more he looks at Rixx for a moment before turning back in your direction and continuing, “we do not care how you do it or what you do to complete the mission, all that matters is you complete it. Come back tomorrow morning at sunrise, we will finalize all the details and then you will start your journey. Understand?"
With no words but a simple nod you make your way out of the room. Step by step you make you way out of the castle yet now, you're leaving with evenn more questions than you got answers...
