Chapter 9 by CxSeth CxSeth

What's next?

Returning to reality.

Johanna woke up in a dark room with a splitting headache. She slowly sat up, rubbing at her temples, and did her best to remember exactly where she was and how she got there. The memories were foggy at best, but from a cursory examination it seemed that after the feast, Johanna had made her way to one of the unoccupied rooms Vissnar had mentioned yesterday. A covered lantern sat on a table in the center of the chamber, which was also one of the only pieces of furniture in the room. A chair next to the table and the bed she had woken up on made up the rest of the room's furnishings, though Johanna noted with relief that she seemed to have a closed door, at the very least.

"A small mercy," She mumbled, stumbling to her feet and across the room, "I need to be more careful in the future." Johanna paused in the center of the room, and looked down at the table, where the lighter clothing Vissnar had given her sat next to the lantern. She looked down at her own clothing, disheveled and dirty, and decided that now was as good a time as any to change into her new outfit. She peeled off her old clothing one piece at a time, folding them and placing them on the chair, suddenly very aware of how cold it was in her room. She knew she was underground, but now that she was naked, the chill quickly caused her nipples to harden uncomfortably. She was only nude for a short time, though, quickly changing into the surprisingly comfortable clothing Vissnar had provided her. The fur top was snug, but fit well, and the grass skirt was a bit short for her taste, but considering that the chosen spent their time in total nudity, any amount of covering would probably strike them as fairly conservative. Having donned the skirt and top, she suddenly noticed that the outfit didn’t come with any underwear, allowing her lower lips to taste the cool subterranean air. The sensation was unusual more than uncomfortable, but Johanna suspected she had little choice for the time being. Perhaps today she would ask Vissnar if there was a way for her to obtain the necessary materials to fashion more clothing, starting with some bloomers.

Now clothed, more or less, Johanna collected the lantern from the table and exited her small chamber, finding herself at the end of a twisting tunnel. She slowly made her way along, peeking into empty rooms and trying to figure out where she was in relation to the parts of the underground she had explored yesterday. She eventually found her way into a familiar-looking larder, and from there, aboveground. The sudden bright light assaulted her senses, and Johanna was temporarily blinded. By the time she could see again, she noticed that she was no longer alone. Two chosen, one of whom she recognized as Grith the Silent, a carpenter and lumberjack, were sitting at a table sharing a bit of morning bread. The other chosen, whose name escaped Johanna, but whom she remembered dancing with the night before, offered her some of their meal, but she politely declined. In all truth, she still felt full from last night, and a bit hung over, too. She apologized, somewhat unnecessarily, then marched out into the village to find Vissnar.

“Ah, Johanna the Stern. You look good this morning, and the clothes fit, I see,” The elder’s voice boomed out as she stepped into his hut. “This is good. It’s the only clothing we have, after all, so if it didn’t fit, you would have to go without.” He paused there, his ever-present grin growing wider, “Like me! Ah ha ha ha ha!”

Johanna couldn’t help but blush as her gaze flicked involuntarily down to Vissnar’s heavy cock. “That was going to be my first question, Vissnar. I know your people don’t wear clothing, but do you have any spare cloth I would be able to use to fashion some of my own?”

Vissnar paused thoughtfully for a moment, before shaking his head, “We have some furs and leather, but I suspect you’re looking for lighter materials. That brings up a better question, though, which is how you wish to spend your time now that you are here.”

It was Johanna’s turn for a thoughtful pause. Vissnar continued, “I’m not suggesting you immediately find a job and get to work, of course, feel free to take your time, but I suspect that you’re the sort of creature who won’t be satisfied unless you have something to keep you busy, eh?” Johanna nodded at this. He was right, of course. With the immediate concerns of food, clothing, and shelter were taken care of, where did Johanna see herself fitting within Chosen society?

Where does Johanna go from here?
