Returning Home

"Well, well, well... look who's getting home late this evening!"

Walt chuckled stepping up on the porch of home. "More like early morning at this hour. Excuse me a sec." He turned to the others, minus Emma and Loki who'd stayed in Marvel. "Ladies we'll save introductions for another time tomorrow morning, alright? My friend is right and you all should definitely go get some shut eye before the sun comes up."

There was no arguments as half the girls were asleep on their feet. They bid them both a goodnight as they entered and retired to bed. Seeing the last of them go Walt took the chair nearest his friend in the wheelchair device and took his hat off while stretching and putting his booted feet up on the rail. "Good to see you, Dave," he said extending his hand. "Apologies on the belated welcome. Did the ladies take care of you and Harls alright?"

Dave shook his hand smiling. "That's fine. Thank you and they did. They're a wonderful bunch! Friendly, gracious and very entertaining!"

Walt chuckled shaking his head, smiling. "I bet... They're aces. But what are you doing up and by yourself? Where's Harls?"

Dave chuckled. "She's asleep. Nothing short of an attack is going to wake her up. She's always been that way. My theory is that just being Harley Quinn must be exhausting."

Walt chuckled and nodded. "I bet! I'm feeling a bit drained just thinking about how much energy Harley being Harley must take out of a person."

Dave raised an eyebrow looking at him. "You? Drained? That's hard to feature. If this is you drained, I'll take a couple gallons of whatever is coursing through you veins, please and thanks!" They both chuckled. "Let me guess you wrestled a bear, saved a burning orphanage and then had sex with all of those ladies?"

Walt shook his head. "Not exactly. Foiled a fair few plots though, culminating in a dust up... and you know I don't like kissing and telling."

Dave rolled his eyes but nodded. Walt was that kind of guy. "Then don't give away any details about it. Come on?"

Walt sighed... but relented. "More like half of them..."

Dave laughed heartily punching his shoulder... but then broke down coughing. "That's *Cough* Good! *Hack* Good for *Cough, Cough* all of you! *Wheeze* Happy for you..."

Walt smiled and patted his back. "Get you something to drink and out of this night air? Water? Maybe back to your cabin and bed?"

Dave shook his head. "No... water. Got anything... stronger?" He winked.

Walt smiled and pulled out his flask and passed it to him. "We can share. Fair warning it's strong stuff."

Dave grinned. "Deal! Cheers!" He lifted it to his lips and took a pull and nearly spat it out. He forced himself to swallow. "Ugh! Bad deal! That ain't your usual. What the hell is that garbage?!"

Walt smirked. "Vitameatavegamin. I had a recent encounter with an "I Love Lucy" show Lucy and had to buy some. I knew you were coming so I switched. I'm trying to use it up."

"Gah," Dave said passing him the flask. "Switch it out! Infact burn that flask and get another!"

Walt took a belt and tried passing it back and when Dave tried to refuse he forced it into his hands. "It's good for you," he said grinning.

Dave made a face. "It's vile!" He glared at Walters grin. "You're supposed to be nice to the infirm and old, you know... not torture them, you fucking sadist."

Walt snorted. "I'm your elder, remember... and I definitely ain't getting any enjoyment out of this... but you might. Shit is pretty potent. Could get you fucked up. Sadly that effect is negated on me. Think of it like medicine. Drink."

Dave sighed and mumbled, "Well the hospitality was nice before you got here, you monster." He lifted the flask to his lips and took a long pull before passing it back. "There- whoa... you were right. Potent indeed!" He saw Walt pull out and hold up two cigars though and nodded his head. "Oh! Yes please! Burn this taste out of my mouth."

Walt smiled lighting and passing him one. "Now that you were a little good we can be a little bad."

Dave smiled and puffed away on it smiling as his friend lit up the other joining him. "Mmm... I take it all back. You're a damn good friend." He sighed looking up at the stars and blowing a smoke ring, smiling. "To answer your earlier question I don't sleep much anymore... well, even less than usual. I think my body knows the end is coming soon."

Walt nodded looking up and hummed. Then he smiled and puffed muttering making a smoke sailing ship and sent it sailing through the ring that Dave had blown.

Dave smiled. "Cheater," he said fondly.

Walt nodded, smiling. "Yup. That's the great secret of life, my friend... nobody gets out alive. Is that why you're out here tonight? You want to talk about it."

Dave shook his head. "Actually no... but maybe later. I actually wanted to talk about your problems for awhile."

Walt blinked. "Oh ho! Alright, I'll bite. What about them?"

Dave nodded seriously now pulling out an envelope. "I figured out who it was and how they accessed and bypassed security to get into the secured instances from your old cases."

"Seriously?" Walt asked as Dave opened up the envelope. "Who did it?"

He pulled out the contents which were mostly photos and logs of a somewhat familiar looking, large man wearing a big, dark hat and slapped them down on the side table between them theatrically. "You did," he said grinning at the stunned look on Walt's usually unflappable face and puffing on his cigar, enjoying his small victory.
