Return to the Cabin

Heather burst through the door to the cabin looking all around the living room, from the three couches to the fire place, calling out to Kurt and Victoria before she’d even finished scanning the room. She disappeared into the kitchen as Zack and Ashley raced in behind her, looking around the living room too, as if Heather might have ran right past them. Still not finding their friends, Ashley dashed off to Heather and Victoria’s room, while Zack checked Kurt and Chloe’s room. Disappointed, the trio reconvened in the living area.

“I guess they’re not back yet,” Zack surmised as he joined the girls, scratching the back of his head.

The dark haired cheer captain folded her arms across her busty chest, her lips curling into a half frown. “That doesn’t make much sense. They left before us, so they should have been back here first.”

“Well, we don’t know where Dustin took Victoria so maybe they had further to drive,” Ashley suggested, and then with a grimace towards Heather. “Perhaps now, while we have some time, we should talk.”

“Wait,” Heather replied, holding up her hand. “I hear a car!”

Heather raced to the door, flinging it open wide as Ashley and Zack peered out behind her, all three watching as Zack’s blue sedan came to a stop outside the cabin. Kurt hopped out, giving them a short wave, before running over to the passenger side to help Victoria out of the car. With a hand around her waist, he supported her as she walked towards the cabin and up the steps.

“Sorry to keep you guys waiting, we’re here,” Kurt said to the three other teens as they parted to allow Kurt and Victoria to enter. “And we’re all in one piece.”

Zack opened his mouth to ask what had happened but instead found himself standing slack jawed, staring at Victoria. It was hard to see her exactly outside in the darkening evening light but inside he could see her in all her sexy glory. He was reminded of his crush on Victoria, the one that had troubled him so much before he’d come to the cabin. She’d always been pretty, as well as sweet and intelligent, but it’d always been in an innocent, unintentional kind of hotness. “Alright, enough about fashion,” Heather insisted, closing the outside door. “What the hell happened?”

Kurt looked to Victoria to see if she wanted to relive her day for her friends, but she waved him on to tell the story. He took a seat on the couch, the others following suit as he began with the first major incident. “First, while I was out shopping for a present for Jennifer, I ran into Kendra who led me into a trap by Shawn Lewis. “

“We already know that,” Heather interrupted impatiently, and then, after a quizzical look from Kurt she explained, “We tracked you to the clothes shop and saw the security tapes.”

“There were security tapes?” Kurt’s voice sank, his face draining of colour.

“Yes, but don’t worry. I took care of it. They won't be pressing charges.” Heather assured him, and then with an unimpressed glare and a frown, she continued, “And we know what happened next. Don’t you know you shouldn’t go wandering into alleyways with strange women?”

“Yeah, you should stick to women you know,” Victoria added teasingly, causing Kurt to gulp, and Ashley to look at her friend with an arched eyebrow.

“What we don’t know is why,” Zack said, trying to keep the conversation on track. “What did Kendra and Shawn want with you?”

“Nothing,” Kurt admitted with a bemused shrug. “They thought I was Gavin. Shawn told me himself that they wanted Victoria’s boyfriend out of the way so that Dustin could spend the day with Victoria.”

Ashley shook her head. “But I suggested the date.”

“I guess, either Dustin knew you would give Victoria the push she needed, or he planned on manipulating the situation around to allow him to spend the day with her,” Kurt hypothesised, looking around to see if anyone had a better explanation. “I think things would have ended up happening even without your encouragement.”

“Did Dustin plan for you to be kidnapped?” Heather asked. “He’s usually quite nice and reserved. It’s hard to see him suggesting something like this. Shawn on the other hand…”

“Shawn told me himself that it was Dustin’s plan for ‘Gavin’ to be kidnapped,” Victoria told her. “And why would he lie?”

“To make himself look better?” Heather suggested, as if it were the most obvious answer in the world.

“In my experience, Shawn was more honest with me than Dustin has been,” Victoria replied, sitting back on the sofa and crossing her legs.

“She’s not exactly wrong. Shawn is brutally and disturbing forthright,” Kurt cringed, as memories of Shawn’s commentary of the date flooded his brain. “It’s withholding key information that he’s adept at, rather than outright lying.”

“At any rate, you were kidnapped as ‘Gavin’ and Victoria went on a date with Dustin,” Zack cut in, moving the conversation along. “What happened next?”

“Do you want to tell them what happened on the date?” Kurt asked Victoria.

“We went to dinner, and then a movie, which turned out to be a porno. After that, we went back to his place,” Victoria explained casually, as if these were normal date activities. “I showered and changed my bottoms because they were damp…”

“Before you had sex?” Ashley asked, confused. “Why would you shower and change before you had sex?”

“Who said I was going to have sex with him?” Victoria argued angrily, pouting. “I just lost my virginity a few days ago. I’m not gonna start fucking people after a single date, especially not men who have a track record of lying to me.”

“Woah, it was just what it sounded like,” Ashley said, holding her hands up and leaning away from Victoria. “I mean, if your bottoms were that damp…”

“I spilled soda on my lap,” Victoria insisted, though Kurt knew it was a lie. But he didn’t blame her if she didn’t want to tell the others about her getting fingerfucked in a movie theatre. Ashley remained quiet this time, and Victoria continued her side of the story. “After I cleaned up, Shawn entered, claiming that Dustin had lied to me again.”

“What was the lie?” Heather asked.

“That the date had been a natural, organic event, when actually it had been engineered and manipulated,” said Victoria, without a hint of bitterness. “That’s when I stormed out.”

“That’s it?” Kurt asked, frowning as he remembered all of Shawn’s lewd comments towards the golden haired teen. It had seemed like he had something a little more physical planned, rather than simply talking.

“Yep, Shawn was a perfect gentleman,” Victoria retorted firmly.

“That doesn’t sound like Shawn,” Heather replied thoughtfully. “But what do I know? I only ever heard the rumours and maybe he’s mellowed out during his time away.”

Kurt shook his head. “He has definitely not mellowed out.” And then, to Victoria. “He mentioned something about wanting to teach his brother a lesson.”

“And he did. That lying is terrible,” Victoria said, tilting her head and putting a finger to her bottom lip. “Actually, his exact words were ‘stop pussying around with all the manipulative shit’. Honestly, I’m grateful. If it weren’t for Shawn, who knows what might have happened with Dustin.”

“You really think Dustin was the bigger threat?” Zack asked, genuinely curious rather than incredulous.

“Of course. He had a key to their apartment after all, and he already told me he came back to town for me. So, if you put 2 and 2 together you can clearly see that he intended to fuck me by the end of that date,” Victoria explained, and Zack nodded, understanding what Dustin’s possession of the key implied.

“Right, so you cleaned up and got away, apparently from Dustin, rather than Shawn,” Ashley surmised before looked to Kurt. “How exactly did you manage to escape from Kendra?”

“I told her it was in Shawn’s best interest for her to let me save Victoria. He doesn’t have many friends outside of Kendra and Dustin, and he was about to wreck his relationship with his brother, so she let me go so I could stop him from irreparably burning that bridge,” Kurt explained, and then with a humble grin. “But as it turns out, Victoria didn’t need saving.”

“I still really appreciate that you tried,” Victoria cooed, reaching over and squeezing his thigh. “For getting tied up for me and pretending to be my boyfriend. It was very sweet and noble of you.”

“I think that’s the nicest thing you’ve ever done for everyone,” Heather replied, chuckling.

“Yeah, you still did good,” Zack agreed.

“I’m sure any of you would have done the same thing,” Kurt said, coolly and calmly, like a movie star who was used to all the fame. “But, that’s everything.”

“Geez, we really need to be more careful in the future,” Heather warned them. “That’s the second day in a row that we’ve lost people.”

“Speaking of lost people,” Zack declared, standing. “I’m gonna go check on Gavin. We’ve been back a while and he hasn’t poked his head out to see what’s going on.”

“I hope he’s feeling alright,” Ashley replied, sympathetically.

“He’s probably just got his head buried in a game,” Zack assured her, as he headed down the hall.

“That was a long day,” Victoria stood and stretched, raising her arms into the air, her tank top lifting and baring her midriff. “I’m totally beat.”

“Yeah, I can’t imagine,” Heather empathized. “You should get some rest.”

“Mhm, I will, but…” she turned to Ashley, looking down at her best friend with tired, sad eyes. “Could I possibly borrow the master bedroom for a night?”

“Sure, you can have it all to yourself,” Ashley agreed, smiling brightly up at her. “I don’t mind bunking with Heather. Lord knows we’ve done it enough on cheerleadering away trips.”

“Thanks,” Victoria replied. “I think I'll just go start getting ready for bed now.”

“Goodnight,” Heather, Kurt and Ashley all called after her. Kurt stood next and said, “I guess I’ll see if Chloe’s around.”

“Oh, I can answer that,” Heather said hesitantly, not sure if Kurt would be upset or just disappointed to hear that Chloe was spending the night with another woman. “She’s staying at Hannah’s tonight.”

“Oh,” was Kurt’s only response, as he didn’t know what else to say. He took a deep breath, and exhaled, long and slow, as his whole body seemed to slouch, deflated by the news.

“Weird, I know,” Ashley sympathetically frowned, to which Kurt simply gave a half-hearted nod.

“I think I’ll just go to bed too, then,” Kurt informed the last two girls. “Victoria’s right. It has been a long day.”

Heather and Ashley watched him shuffle off down the hallway, feeling bad for the man. He’d been noble and heroic and what was his boon for his efforts? The princess he wanted was in another castle. Unfortunately, their sympathies could only extend so far. There were other matters to attend to.

“Now that it’s just the two of us,” Ashley said, Heather turning to look at her. “We need to talk.”
