Return now
Sighing, Ethan decides to return the pan now. No time like the present and all that.
Scooping it up, and giving his belly a gentle pat, Ethan is out the door whip quick, hoping to not catch Layla during dinner. As he makes it to the road, a sudden realization hits him: he’s not 100% sure which house is Layla’s. Looking up and down the street, there are only so many options, the sparse country road making it so there are only a couple real ‘neighbors’.
Scratching his head, Ethan tries to recall which house was hers. Squinting between two particular houses, he’s fairly sure it’s one of the two.
The first option is more or less directly across the street. White and well-tended, the house is definitely familiar, but that familiarity might just be him looking at it every time he stepped outside of the house.
The second is next door up the road slightly. Red and slightly smaller than the one across the street, Ethan can’t shake the feeling he’s been inside of it before, but can’t say if it was visiting Layla’s son.
It’s definitely one of the two, and Ethan decides at least to get a closer look before knocking on any doors.
