Retrieve the coat

You decide the coat is of critical importance, despite how painful it may be to retrieve it. You slipped out of your coat and manually untangled it. However, there was not enough room to put it back on. So, coat in hand, you pushed through the hedge once more. With your whole body completely exposed to the thorns, the second half of the hedge was utter agony.

When you finally collapsed out the other end of the hedge your body was a complete mess of splinters and shallow cuts. But you couldn’t stop, the man probably saw you run into the yard, and the only place you could’ve gone is here.

You put your coat back on, slipped out of your heels and picked them up. If you were going to really run, it couldn’t be done in heels. You dashed out onto the street and ran. You ran and ran and ran and ran. You ran until your feet were red with friction, scratched and cut against the pavement, with blisters forming in your heels. And when you truly couldn’t run anymore, you stopped.
